hi,
When did ı update for My BB first ı was see Mobile HotSpot but when did ı open carrier, mobile HostSpot go out ı dont understan..5 times ı was wipe ... nothing..
Who is know this problem?
ur carrier wont let you able the use the mobile hotspot , its not available for everyone same as blackberry music that is not available in our region.
I have installed this OS and it is working smoothly... except that the only option for the Mobile Network setting is 4G - and I suspect that is what is causing my battery to run down quickly. Any suggestions please?
There can be many factors why your battery is running low quicker than it should be, and in my experience, the biggest reason, is leaving device applications running in the background, when you're not using them.
Try to close any apps when not in need.
As for 4G networks, it has been proven that a 4G over a 3G wireless network will consume more power as more data is incoming and outgoing at a much faster rate, sometimes, as much as over 40Mbps.
I would prefer to see if you were able to:
Go to Options and Status»Network and Connections»Mobile Network then scroll to Network Mode, you may see 2G, 3G,2G/3G,4G (H+)
Change your network mode accordingly, and your issue should be solved.
A change in OS downgrade may not necessarily be beneficial to you.
Keep us posted ok![]()
Thanks grimreaper. That is exactly my problem - the only option is 4G. Do you have any idea what is causing that? A conflict between my carrier and 7.1?
So I did downgrade the OS and it did improve the battery life, as I use 2G unless I am downloading. But it's disappointing, as 7.1 is such a good OS.
arnie,
This issue has been discussed a lot on other sites - 7.1 DOES have the 2G/3G and 4G switching capability - however, depending on your carrier, this function may be blocked. In the US, people on T-Mobile (with 9810) have the capability - people like me on AT&T do not have the function. Apparently Vodacom has the same policy.
I have confirmed, however, that even though you can not manually switch to 4G, if you are in a very weak signal area, or in an area that does not support "4G", the device will switch to EDGE and remain there until the signal/spectrum situation changes and it can then switch back to 4G.
Not exactly as good as us being able to choose ourselves, but at least better than nothing.
I hope this helps answer your questions
Thanks Donnie - it does!
