    Hybrid: OS 7.1.0.74 / 7.0.0.540 For Torch 9810

The guys over at OSBB have developed a unique hybrid OS 7.1 for the Torch 9810. This OS provides mobile Hotspot and EAS to the 9810 by injecting 7.1 files into previously released OS 7.0.0.540. Now, before you install this release please remember that it is not an official release and its a little tricky to install. Here are the basic instructions to install this release, please proceed with caution.

    1. Download & install official 7.0.0.540
    2. Now, Download the leaked java here
    3. Once downloaded, run the installer & locate its destination to OS 7.0.0.540 folder e.g. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9810* - Folder
    4. Now install/re-install OS

If you are successful please let us know your findings and fixes.

    Warning:
Please remember that this IS NOT an official release OS. If you wish to install this OS keep in mind that this may cause your phone to not function correctly. If you are not comfortable and/or unsure as how to upgrade to this OS and need assistance, please click the link below.

I'm hearing that OSBB are calling this a leaked OS and denying it's a hybrid. They may have had the original OS 7.1 files for the 9810, but once they manipulated the OS and required the installation with another OS this is by definition a hybrid.

It's a case of semantics as well. Calling this a normal leaked OS would be not accurate. Plus I've been hearing that a lot of users are having many problems with installation. So it's not the run of the mill leaked OS installation process.

Are you going to try to install on your 9810?

I can't even get .540 or any OS installed on my device. It's driving me a little crazy and I'm starting to think it could be my computer. I'm gonna try updating my OS on my dad's computer tonight.

The problem is it just wont notify me of an available update even though i've installed the OS and deleted the vendor.xml file. I've tried different USB cords, ports, deleting the DM, older OSes, everything I can think of nothing. Neither the DM nor the Loader will recognize the new OS for some reason.

    I'm stumped.

I know a little trick that works every time, let me know if you still can't get it working.

Also, I know that there can be two vendor xml files and that they can come back after deleting. So be sure they are deleting for good.

I could only think that there is a permissions thing going on. Have you tried running as administrator on your laptop?
