Official: OS 6.0.0.706 For BlackBerry Bold 9700 From Vodafone New Zealand

Vodafone New Zealand has officially released OS 6.0.0.706 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 today. Been awhile since we saw a Bold 9700 update so be sure to leave us a comment on how the OS update works for you!

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Installed on my 9700 last night. Seems to be a pretty good release so far. Haven't noticed any big improvements or negatives on this build. One thing that did happen to my phone was it stopped synching my calendar with GMail but I can't say with 100% certainty that it was a result of the OS upgrade. I removed the gmail account and added it again and synching has resumed.

Yea, Gmail synching probably not the OS but how the app reacted.

please i need help urgently, i just installed dis os on 9700, during d upgrade at the point wia the bb restarts, the screen went blank but the entire eventually ran tru, including the restore process. the only issues is that the screen no longer shows anytin, bt u can notice dat the phone is on due to the backlight. i hv wiped and factory reset d device, eventually installed d 6.0.0.666 os, still no solution. wat shl i do, plssssss. tanx

This build might be a battery hog. I installed the free photo editor app and this build at the same time and my battery life has reduced drastically - battery dropped 20% over night when I wasn't using the phone. Removed the app and gonna keep an eye on it for the next 48 hours. I'll report back.

Sounds like the first time you upgraded the process did not finish properly. I would suggest reinstalling with a wipe and install.

Thanks, hopefully it's just something to do with the app and can be fixed in a update.

Looks like it was the photo editor app that was smoking my battery. Only down 4% overnight last night.

Whow, that huge. Have you emailed them about it? Maybe it's a common issue they are dealing with.

I haven't emailed them but I will. Funny thing is, this is the second of the complimentary apps that RIM has offered that has been an enormous battery hog - the first one was Bubble Bash 2. They may be free, but apparently there is a price to pay in the end.

hi i shrunk and installed with bb boss last night it java file was 50 mb down from 150. now on bold it shows that i only have 75mb of free app memory? also i think i shrunk out the calculater how can i re install? many thanks

hi, i downloaded the os and installed it properly and restarted my computer, but when i open my desktop manager it doesn't show the update. can anyone help me please?

I don't know of another way to reinstall the calculator unless you redo the OS install.

i've installed this since its release and encountered an issue where the thumbnails in Pictures would no longer generate. All pictures that were taken before the upgrade have their thumbnails intact. But new images dont have thumbnails. Anyone know how to fix this?

That's strange. Have you tried a battery pull restart?
