Default Which OS you recommend ?

    Hi all

First of all as I am new here … THIS IS THE BEST FORUM I HAVE SEEN FOR BB!
Now a quick question: which OS you recommend for bold 9700 (Orange Israel) . I kind of need Hebrew support (being able to type also Hebrew characters)
    Thanks in advance

שלום אחי, thanks for the feedback, you came to the right forum! When I was living in Israel had Orange Israel as my carrier back when I had my unlocked Verizon Storm 2. I also had trouble typing Hebrew as there was no Hebrew support for many devices at that time.

You don't even need to update your OS. Head to this thread in our forum to see how you can type Hebrew on your device. All you need to do is install this app... Hebrew for BlackBerry

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

    Never tried .650.

But you can try it out. Here is the link to the Multilanguage Version. Should have Hebrew... Mobilicity_9700_6.0.0.650 - Downloads - BlackBerryOS.com

If it doesn't have Hebrew support, but you like the OS version, you can always install the Hebrew for BlackBerry app.

Also, just so you know if you don't. The OS I linked to above is from Mobilicity. But you can still install the OS, just delete the vendor xml file before installing.

What I did is I did a full wipe then reinstalled (download BBSAK at BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife this is a bit of software that can fully wipe your Blackberry, make sure to make a backup first!).When wipe is done, your device will give a white screen and a 404 or 505 error. This is fine, just hook it up to you desktop manager and install OS of your liking.I had the same problem, and lost my complete list of contacts. If it still gives the error, all I can advise is to install a different OS. Keep in mind that Mobilicity is ussualy an Asian language pack, I would try an OS from a different operator / carrier. This depends on what country your from and what languages you want to use.Hope it helps, if you need any help please let us know.

I used the 6.0.0.600 too for my 9700. I have o say that I stopped seeing whats new 3 or 4 updates before that one.
The 507 should be when you wiped it am I right? Then reload the OS of your choise.
I didn't have any problems with build 600 so I hope you wont either.

A couple things. I have heard that downgrading Desktop Manager back to v6.0 can help.

Also, there is a trick you can do to load the .650 OS. If you know that your device will recognize the .600 OS folder in app loader you can do this...

1 - Download and install both OS .600 and .650 to your computer.
2 - Delete all files in the .600 folder (Find OS folders by going to... C:/Program Files(x86)/Common Files/Research in Motion/Shared/Loader Files).
3 - Copy all files from the .650 folder and paste them into the .600 folder.
4 - Now uninstall the .650 OS from your computer because the .650 files are now in the .600 folder.
5 - Now open up the App Loader and install the .600 OS which is really the .650 OS in disguise.

Just a way to trick your computer so it can install the OS it would not recognize before.

    Thx Joe.

    It didn't work.
i am not 100% but if you look at the files also directories that they create after instalations the 650 is much smaller.
MAybe indeed it does't contain the files for the device....
anyway i finally succeed to get back ob the track and istall the back the 600.....
i had to uninstall the destop s/w also

    thx

The OS sizes are probably different due to one having more languages than the other.

How did you get it working?

    1. Uninstall ALL Reserch in Motion proucts (incl. desktop, App world etc etc ALL)
    2. Delete ALL the directories that haven't been erased in the ininstall process.
    3. Wipe the 9700 with the BBSAK (btw I coudn't figure out how to restore 3rd party applications after that in spite the fact that i have backed them up). - Great tool except that
    4. Installed BB Desktop S/w latest version 6.1.034 i think
    5. Install the OS 6.0.0.600 that has also hebrew
    6. Erase the Vendor.xml (or rename it)
    7. Run the Loader program and follow instrctions.
    8. Restore from the BB desktop my last backup.
    9. Run net_rim_bb_timezoneupdater.jad

Default number 9 is ONLY for users of BB that live in Israel and use the Israel time zone.
