Thread: help with downloading OS for Bold 9700 still running on version 5

hi all,
i'm new and know nothing of OS and all that jazz. all i know is that my bb needs an upgrade to higher version. i am in south africa, Vodacom and don't know if i can just download any newer version.

please help

If you have Desktop Manager, plug in your Bold and see if your carrier is offering an update. If you don't have DM, you can download it from here for a windows system, BlackBerry - Desktop Software for PC or if you're using a MAC, BlackBerry - Desktop Software for Mac.
Not sure what OS Vodacom has released, but you can get the latest official RIM release from here, 9700 Bold - Downloads - BlackBerryOS.com. Download the OS you want first, and then refer to this how-to, All In One Guide - How To Upgrade Your Device - with Pictures & Videos. Go through the how-to a few times to get comfortable with the steps and then down load the newest OS.
