Unhappy OS 6.0.0.499 For the Bold 9700 - What are we testing for?

Honestly, I am somewhat sceptical about all these "leaked" sotware patches or upgrades. As a QA Software Tester, it is "difficult" to test or comment on any software upgrades when you don't know what you are testing for. Without a log of the supposed fixes, how do you really know if an issue has been adressed and fixed? Anybody can complain of "battery leaks" or other stuff, but there are so many variables that can make any hardware to act up, and this may not even have anything to do with the "fixes". I just wonder what we are really testing !!!

That is just exactly what I mean Jimmy2Bob. We can't be of any help to these developers if we don't know what we should be looking out for.

Seriously, I have also installed and "tested" most of these "leaks" but I don't know wheather anything is working or not because not sure what to look for. Of course I can make up any story and complain about everything about version .499, and this would not be of any help the the software developers. If this is what beta testing is all about then it sucks!!

Well I had a bit battery issue, among others, with the previous leak. It died in less then 2 days. Now it lasts atleast a day longer even with wifi on and more use of BBM and internet.

On the other hand, I do agree, I have no furry clue what Im looking for unless something is wrong. Like the battery issue.
If the next leak gives me the same preformances I wouldnt know what changed...
Most of the times a week or 2 after the "leak" an official comes but it's the same anyway but with a vendorfile.
I do think it has to de with the fact we are using a 9700, just to little memory remaing and all.

CrunchSMS application freezes the phone for few minutes. Tried deleting the app, re-seating the battery but problem still remain same.

Blackberry Bold 9700 Enterprise Server users...

    Pros:
    Much better user interface
    Faster
    No memory leak
Camera much easier to use with more tools

    Cons:
Address books names don't always show up on who's calling
Group Address (outlook contacts) are lost (had to re-do)

Great upgrade, but the non-address name showing up drives me crazy, although doesn't happen all the time...

If you didn't have the issue right before the upgrade then it it very possible that the OS is the issue. Try a battery pull on your device to refresh the system and see if that helps. Otherwise, you can always switch to another OS and find out for sure if it's software or hardware.
