Blackberry 9700 OS 6 Leak v.380 Review
For anyone out there who's unsure about the new leak heres a short review of what iv found so far from using it.
Hopefully gives you some insight :D
OS6 v.380 is here and again I have updated to see whether this leak resolves any of the previous issues or just creates more problems.
First thoughts:
Memory Leak: I know this has been the biggest problem for most people on the previous leak and to some extent seems to have been resolved in this leak. Using Memory Booster, if I am simply on the home screen my free memory will idle at around 20mb, however if I open SMS and other similar programs it begins to drop rapidly. After a few battery pulls this does seem to have stabalised a little and doesnt drop quite as quickly but it is a marked improvement on the previous leak where it would idle around 9mb on the home screen sometimes. I must point out this is in relation to the RAM memory and not application memory.
The application memory is still around the 50-60mb mark (as I have a few apps installed) so the leak doesnt seem to be much smaller but still leaves plenty of space.
Invisible SMS Cursor: Im afraid to say it is still invisible in this leak aswell and requires an element of guess work, but I must admit I’m now starting to be able to guess where the cursor would be. Still quite inconvenient but very useable.
Sending SMS/Dropped Calls: Not sure if this is something everyone experienced but with the previous leak SMS messages would sometimes fail after numerous retries or calls would drop for no reason (possibly a memory leak link) but already meassages appear to be sending very quickly and on the first try, with BBM messages also sending instantly. This is a great improvement and certain makes the phone much more usable as a phone.
Social Feeds and Facebook: Social feeds is still working as per last leak with twitter, BBM and RSS feeds however there is STILL no integration for the new Facebook app. Its a shame to see this hasnt been updated as it was useful to have all social feeds in one place.
Mute Button: Works correctly in this leak and will mute both when locked or unlocked. It will mute calls and songs an either a locked or unlocked state. Great feature to work again as it is a very quick method for muting.
Browser Speed: This again seems incredibly quick, which could be down to better memory use and more free memory available, and when WI-FI is available it certainly makes for a good experience.
Universal Search: Still working correctly, however it does seem a little slower to load. This may be due to less memory allocation but is still very useable and generally quicker than browsing through numerous menus/all messages.
App Compatibility: All the Apps I was running previously (Evernote, Quicklaunch, Socialscope, Wirefly, Endomondo, Poynt, Memory up pro, Memory Booster, Berrybuzz) are all still working correctly with no noticeable glitches or bugs so far. The back up also restored all my settings correctly and they worked as usual.
Volume Button: Unfortunately this still does not change track or work volume if the phone is locked and becomes a redundant key.
Blackberry 9700 OS 6 Leak v.380 Review
Having issues with data cable connectivity. Phone connects for about 15 seconds, then pop up on screen gives option for usb, media sync and charge only (help button says to choose charge only if you want to use desktop software). So I choose charge only option, and then desktop software cannot read handset.
Anyone have any advise please? as i want to install os6.0.0.380
