It's taken two hours to get the OS installed and loaded on my computer. Never had these types of problems before with any previous OS and I believe I have had almost every OS ever published for the 9700. It is now in the final stages of installation (restoring data). Obviously it will be too early to report on any changes before for a day or two of use.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I'd guess there will really not be anything notable to report. As these 9700 OSs have been rolling out over the last several editions, there has been less and less of note to talk about.

At least I can maintain bragging rights that I have the most up-to-date OS on my device.

Downloaded .862 a little earlier. Probably should use it a bit more but I've been hitting it pretty heavy over the last few hours and unfortunately cannot report anything that would justify an upgrade. I see absolutely no difference between my older .743 OS and this new .862. Absolutely no difference.

    Bb os 5.0.0.862

Currently running 5.0.0.714. Would be VERY interested to know if .862

    1. Does it boot any faster? .714 seems to take about 5 minutes.

    2. Does it correct the problem I'm seeing with random reboots. OK, it's not totally random, but on multiple occasions, I have taken a phone call, decided to use my bluetooth headset, and when I turn the headset on, as it connects to the device, the device reboots. Pretty inconvenient to interrupt a phone call for five minutes waiting for the device to reboot (see #1 above!).

I don't ever remember putting up a red flag about an OS release but I am putting one up for this OS and issuing a DO NOT RECOMMEND on .862.

Lots of people download an OS and ten minutes later are singing its praises and claiming it cures cancer. That is one of the many things I got really tired of over at that "other site." It takes some use of a new OS to figure out the pros and cons of it.

I downloaded .862 several days ago and have been testing it ever since. Last night I removed it and installed .770 because I cannot live with the many problems I was having with .862. Here are my findings:

1.) The most battery abusive OS I've ever used. It gobbles up battery life.

2.) It is incompatible with Vlingo. Many of Vlingo's features get screwed up on this OS and SafeReader will not function reliably with .862.

3.) Consistent Java errors. All the time.

I have now been on .770 for almost 24 hours and my 9700 is back to normal. I'm not finding all the issues I was having with .862.

Apparently Vodafone has made .862 official today. I say to them ... caveat emptor (let the buyer beware).

I cannot recommend .862 based on all the problems I was having with it.

This is the 1st OS I have ever noted as a DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I have tried both leaked and official vers of 5.0.0.862. They didn't seem to offer any advantages over 5.0.0.602. The one issue I had with the OS was that my device no longer locked when put in the holster. Have gone back to .602 and all is well.

    9700 os

I rolled back to 5.0.0.330 and have been very happy that I did. Much less frequent reboots (I think only once since I rolled back) and now the lock button works like I want it to again (security lock instead of just keyboard lock). Think I will stick with this one for the foreseeable future...will the 9700 be able to run OS 6?

I have an issue that annoys me so much.
When the blackberry supposed to be going "lowbat" condition, a normal blackberry should be displaying Low Battery in the homescreen, and there should be LED light that notifies us.
My blackberry doesn't have the notification at all, and it straight put the phone to dead. I can't switch it on unless i pull out the battery and put it back.
Anybody have a solution for this kind of issue?
