Beta 188.8.131.523 Didn't Do It for Me ...
Not one to jump the gun on OS evaluations. Always find it humorous when people are posting evaluations 10 minutes after installing a new OS.
I've tried most of the OSs released or leaked for the 9700. When .593 was leaked just a few days after .586, I jumped on it and immediately took installed .593.
I've been using it ever since. A couple of weeks now.
I removed .593 and reverted back to .586 this morning. I was not pleased with .593 and here are some of the main reasons why:
1.) Voicemail Problems: .593 will NOT allow you to use your speaker phone with Visual Voicemail. I get a lot of voicemail and like sitting the phone on my desk and listening to voicemail as I take notes with caller names and numbers and memo info. This was not possible with .593 because that OS does not allow use of the speakerphone in combination with Visual Voicemail. Big negative for me.
2.) UMA Problems: .593 is not as good as .545 and .586 in grabbing and holding onto UMA connections. I was occasionally losing UMA connections with .593 and I'd never had this happen in the past with any previous OS. .593 also did not easily find new UMA connections. I easily make 50% of my calls via UMA so this was starting to be a deal breaker for me.
3.) BackLight Problems: It seemed that .593 always wanted to dim my backlight. And yes I had the settings turned to off for backlight control just as I've done with every BlackBerry and every OS I've ever used. This was really getting annoying.
4.) Battery Life: Not as good as .545 or .586. Very similar to my experience with .442 where I had really poor battery life. This was, again, after weeks of use ... not a few hours or a few days.
I found .593 to be the poorest OS I've seen RIM leak yet. I don't casually roll back to earlier OS versions. I stuck with .442 long after it had started to aggreviate me knowing that there would be a new leaked or official OS to eventually come out. I just couldn't tolerate .593 anymore and felt that it needed to go.
So those are my findings. I cannot recommend .593 and would suggest that you avoid it. I have had successful experience with .586 and will be running that for the foreseeable future.

On another topic, I have been an senior Genius on that "other" board for quite some time. They have their strengths and the general news content on that "other" board is undeniably excellent. However, as we've seen with many boards that grow past a certain size, the juvenile members start showing up and the quality of the mods starts going down and the value in continuing to participate starts to become questionable. I raised concerns with the management at that "other" board and was consistently insulted. So I've turned off my account there and moved over to this board. I've been a lurker here for a long time. This board needs to grow content but the content it has is excellent and indeed very much "just the news you want to read" without all the other nonsense.
This is a testiment to the management of this site. Good job.
While I had thousands of posts at that "other" site, I'm not impressed with big post counts by members just posting nonsense to increase their membership status. That is a culture that BBOS seems to excel at .... really just the news and not the nonsense.
I hope I can learn a few things here and offer some contributions in the time ahead. Thanks for allowing me to participate.
593 doing all right by me........
I had it in for weeks now and have put it through the ringer with all sorts of apps , videos , music, calls voice, wifi, no problems, As for battery life, I seen a few post talk about this and I don't have it. One you do a few battery pulls and if you add large files or complicated apps, pull the battery to reset the system, everything is smooth as can be.
I have T Mobil and from 330 to>545>586>593.:D::bbos::
