Thread: 9700: Official OS 5.0.0.400 Findings and Fixes

Well, strange things are going on. While we were all hoping for an all new OS for the Bold 9700 (especially the rumoured 5.0.0.435), a downgrade seems to happen instead. Bell has just released its 5.0.0.423 and a snowball effect was the least, that I've expected. But quite the opposite seems to happen right now. Today, we found several carriers to offer an OS 5.x for the Bold 9700, but not the anticipated, it is just the 5.0.0.400. What's happening here?

If that release fixes the SMS mess that has plagued most of the releases until now, I'll downgrade in a heartbeat.

I'm referring to the fact that at first texts were not linked to contacts anymore if you like to format your numbers in a certain way and in later OSes, the conversation view for texts gets completely messed up after a reboot

Hm... anybody tried the OS...?

I was in version .423 and I have just passed into .400 for this morning, everything works well! , Nimbuzz goes! , to block into 423, sms no problems to be announced, also, right minor problems the battery are emptied quickly!
and the network in 3G cut a lot! , but return rather quickly, of or can be the large consumption of energy!

So besides power drain you would recommend it over 423?

I have just given the version 423 which consumed less battery, but the problem is that one cannot connect oneself with nimbuzz and like much, I use it the every day! ,how example, I charge to the maximum my battery, and hardly 1 hour after the battery is emptied up to 70% in did not do anything special! , therefore if I can make a recommendation, it is not to install it, I even think of passing by again .351 the most stable version!,for all!,networks,(3G),bbm,applications and battery life!.

So .351 is the recommended one for your?! Thanks for sharing this experience!
