Yup. Charges fine with A/C power. Just have a **** of a time loading/unloading apps through DM. I've about given up in time for a device wipe. I have one option left which is to use a powered USB hub and see if that corrects it, rather than a port directly from the PC.

If you ask me, it sounds like a driver issue. Have you tried uninstalling DM and rebooting, then reinstalling? I've seen that error message pop up on computers that don't have DM installed, indicating the correct driver to recognize the device are not installed.

hey guys i have a question.

i updated to to 5.0.0.230 the other night and as far as the os goes it's running great

here's the weird part, when i connect the phone to my PC and try to transfer files to the phone it acts like it's dropping the USB connection.

the phone looks like it's still connected and at the same time windows says the drive is no longer available i get the generic windows auto run popup and i can click retry and it starts sending the files again, then shortly after it starts copying the data it drops again.

it's like it's dropping then reconnecting almost instantly.

i've tried on two different PC"s one running Vista Premium x64 and one running windows 7 x64 both with the newest Drivers from Rim's website.

i can remove my microsd card and copy directly to it through the computer so i know it's not the card. there also doesn't seem to be any issues while making/restoring backups with DM. i've tried two different data cables and two different computers so it has to be with the phone/OS. the stock OS seemed ok and 5.0.0.191 seemed ok but with 4.7.1.53 and 5.0.0.230 it gives me issues. i'm going to try it on my home PC (the two pc's i tested are at work) and i'm going to try a complete wipe as i upgraded from 4.7.1.53 to .230

just curious if anyone else experienced this? i haven't gotten the error about not enough power through USB and the rest of the phone is running perfectly

i'm kind of sorry i bothered going back to 4.7.1.53. 5.x is so much faster

edit: sorry for the long post! i wanted to get in as much as i could in one post

I have seen that - using the cable through a hub though. Perhaps that is why?

I'm contemplating the move to 5.0.0.230 from the 4.7.1.53 (the version RIM jumped the gun on and then pulled)... so I'm weighing the pros and cons... as I see it...

    CONS
    No BBM 5.0
    No Facebook App

    PROS
    Better Battery Life
    Maybe some bells and whistles
    Anything else?

Is it worth it do make the move?

Welcome to ! Well you can eliminate FB as a con since RIM updated it yesterday to work with OS 5.0. The OS is also a lot speedier.

Sunkast, looks like my cons were so yesterday! Thanks for the welcome. Also a Detroiter.
