its a lot better than .40 thats for sure

pretty much stops the screen freezes.. or at least limits them

Just installed and so far, so good. Trackball seems more responsive out of the gates. Will keep you posted!

How does this compare to 5.0. Does it have the MSN messenger look for text?

I am not 100% but I am going to say no as that is something that was not introduced until later 5.0 builds

Nope. Standard BB text messaging (non-threaded).

.42 is more responsive than .40. The trackball is also working a lot better. I haven't found any significant changes other than those, which is huge. We still have the same text messaging, same options, same everything else. Obviously this is a performance/tweak upgrade and not the change towards 5.0 that most are looking for. However, it is well worth the upgrade for the "snapiness" alone.

i have one of the newer builds.. got my tour mid august. i havent had any screen freezing issues or even a single trackball issue(i have seen those issues first hand though...)

im wondering if .42 is even meant for the newer tour builds that arent full of issues?

It's meant for every tour. There's not a whole lot wrong with 4.7.1.40 so I'm not suprised that there isn't much difference.

If your happy with .40 stay where you are if your bored try .42 and if you want something really new try 5.0.0.191 but alot of applications and themes wont work with 5.0 just yet

Pretty much says it all. Like cold says, .191 is great but there are compatibility issues with existing software.

we all know its for every tour.. but im just wondering.. for people who have yet to have an issue on .40... whats the benefit of .42 and upgrading to it?

who here had a perfect tour and has upgraded.. whats changed? whats made it a "very good upgrade" so far?

First off, welcome to BBOS.

You have a great point; if it ain't broke don't fix it. I have not personally tried .42 yet so I cannot say what changes are there for sure.

But if you really are enjoying .40 and have no issues, than I would just stay with where you are at. Unless of course, someone finds the margarita mixer in this OS

It seems from what I am hearing it will help with the freeze ups that plaque a lot of people that own the tour.

For example when typing emails on the Stock OS my tour would freeze randomly sometimes for only a second or other times 37 seconds (yes I clocked it lol). This OS seems to correct those freezing issues.

Not sure what else other than that since I have not tired it or seen a lot of feedback yet.

I had the same thought this morning as I was backing up my data and app's. Do I really want to go through the setup all over again? at:

So far;

Boot up is around the same as .40 . (.191 was very fast)

Switching between apps is faster.

Memory. Well its a tour does it really matter!! . I think I'm booting up with 2MB's more.

Lag with in coming messages was a real PIA with .40. IT's MUCH BETTER! Even with buzz. Installed

TRACKBALL. No this os can't fix a hardware issue :lmao:

I was happy with .40 and I'm glad I upgraded.
