no problem, thank you
If i follow these instructions i should be fine right?
1. Uninstall all other OS from PC thru add/remove programs
2. Download and install base OS to PC
3. Download the hybrid of choice
4. Double click on hybrid installer and follow instructions to install it over base OS
5. Back up your phone AND 3rd party apps (click on guide in my signature and there are steps for each process)
6. When back ups all done, wipe your phone with BBSAK (http://<a href="http://www.blackberr...-beta.html</a>)
7. If you would like to shrink the OS, here is a link to Shrink-A-OS: http://<a href="http://www.theiexplo...k-A-OS.rar</a>
8. Delete vendor.xml file in c/program files/common files/research in motion/app loader, scroll to the bottom (if you use shrink a os, it deletes it automatically)
9. Double click on loader.exe or from shrink, click launch loader.exe
10. Wait for it to be finished, then restore everything thru Desktop Manager
11. Do 3 60-second battery pulls (pull battery, wait 60seconds, replace battery, wait till phone boots up, repeat total of 3 times)
12. Set everything up the way you like it and enjoy your phone

awesome Bryan, downloading as i type. should have this loaded later on this evening. i might take the tour for an exchange since the trackball issue has been fixed with the 8/11 batch.
I'll have to figure it out later. The tour is in the MY COMPUTER menu. but its not connected to bbsak.
Loaded 22.214.171.124 this morning, and so far, so good - except for one major annoyance. I have my normal profile set up so the phone rings, but virtually everything else vibrates. That's working fine. When I put it on vibrate, it kills the ringtone - as it should - but now nothing vibrates at all. I had 126.96.36.199 set up precisely the same way, and it worked great. Am I the only one, or is this a known issue? I rely on vibrate enough I'm considering going back to .40. Might try one of the hybrids, but only if it fixes this specific issue.
Was a success. Shes kinda freaked because i told her she has to do google sync again. But also i dont know why bbsak didn't make a .alx file. so i'll have to get all her shti back again.
Thanks for the post!!
I cannot get phone to register with the network, tried through host routing table and diagnostics test. any suggestions?
No matter where you go, there you are
I have never yet had a profile transfer - not ever. I've had to recreate it every stinkin' time, and it's a pain in the butt. It amazes me they don't get backed up. I tried a custom profile at one point, but that didn't transfer either, so I decided there was no point in that. I've created the profile a couple dozen times now over the last month or so, and am (sadly) getting quite adept at it. Except this one doesn't work. I'm not thrilled with the way the 4.7.xxx profiles work even when the ARE working, but I really don't like them when they don't!
Yeah I have not had one carry over correctly on the Tour yet either the storm and all the ones before no issue, but for some reason the Tour does not like to back them up
Ok, I got everything back up and running. I did a security wipe, without wiping the 3rd party apps. I then reloaded the back up, and everything is good, with one exception. From what VZW is telling me is that RIM has an outtage right now, and that is the reason I cant resend service books, lol. I always seem to try and do upgrades when there is some kind of service outtage somewhere, lol.

Well, I have gone from a barely noticeable lag/stutter on the trackball on stock .40, to practically unusable. It simply won't go right - at all - after upgrading to .42. It was working as normal until the re-load, immediately upon reboot I noticed the lack of response going left-right. It will go left with enough repeated motions. It goes right about once out of every 20 strokes, and usually only one icon at a time. Sometimes it jumps back left immediately after going right, resulting in no real movement at all on the screen. Weird. Very replicable so I won't have any problems showing the tech guy what it's doing, that's for sure.
I'm in mid-battery pull to see if that jogs anything. Doubtful. After that, I'll likely go back to .40 to verify whether this is hardware or software (or what it's starting to look like - some of both) and go from there... If the lack of response is there on .40, I guess I'm headed to VZW tomorrow morning to see if they want to get right on this thing. Seems like they are acknowledging the problem. Sucks, I'll lose my brand new BSE screen protector. I finally got one on with zero spots or bubbles... oh well. Good thing I bought the 2 pack.
...battery pull did nothing, looks like I'm going back to .40... I'll probably try 5.0 before I roll back to .40, just to see what that does with the trackball and overall performance...
And strangely enough, I *did* try 5.0 and my trackball issues are back to what they were with .40. Seems like there was something to the software updating making the trackball worse. Strange. So I'm going to run 5.0 for a day or two and see how that works out.
just giving my 2 cents. i DL the .191 build and have had no problems with it. i thought about going down but really love the threaded text messaging. don't use FB so that's not a problem. I have not been able to use 5.0 bbm but hey let's be honest i don't do it that much anyway. I said that to say it's a great OS but if u want .42 then please DL and see for yourself.
