Last night while Tour users were enjoying their first 5.0 leak, I had a nice little present sent to me. 5.0.0.140 WAS the latest known build in the 5.0 series but now we can jump up to 5.0.0.191 as the latest known build. According to many who have played with the .140 leak, they have all agreed that it was pretty buggy. .191 is a pretty solid and stable OS. There are a few bugs but what OS doesn't?
So whats good in the .191? Well, to start off and answer the #1 question. Does it have threaded SMS? Yes, it does have threaded SMS.
To me, it has that BBM 5.0 look and feel to it. Even though BBM5.0 does not work but we will get to that in a few. You have two options when it comes to viewing your texts.
You have the option to view it in either "bubble" style or "stripes" style and you have the option as to how your name will appear in the SMS's. Personally, I don't like this new style threaded SMS. I never had a problem with how they were previously.
One of the other questions I have seen being asked with each new leak is if the phone can vibrate and ring simultaneously. Yes, you can. I have successfully had this work.
One thing that I really liked is the ability to preview themes before actually confirming you want to use it. This is a nice little added feature that will allow users to see a preview of the theme on their device before confirming.
Remember when you needed to check the version of an app on your phone? You would go to your options and then applications and all the applications, including system core files would load and appear in one list? Well that has been changed a bit. Now when you go to view your applications list, you have a drop down tab in the top right corner with the three options.
This makes it a lot more organized and easier to find the application you are looking for.
I mentioned that BBM 5.0 does not come installed with this OS. I tried installing it and it installed successfully and appeared in the applications list however, the icon was no where to be found. This was the same case as the newest leaked 5.0 for the Storm as well. I'm not sure about the Bold or 8900. This makes me wonder if any, when released officially, the 5.0 OS will be released with the BBM 5.0?
Lastly I noticed was something small and minor. Being a Verizon user you are used to the IXEV displaying for 3G. Well whether this is going to remain there or not ( i hope it does ) is that there is no longer 1XEV, it appears as 3G.
Again, I'm not sure if this will stick with the release, only because inside the "mobile network" option, it still appears as 1XEV. Either way, I love the 3G appearing instead of the previous.
Overall, .191 is a solid build! Even with the 4.7 OS it was a solid build so there really were no serious bugs or fixes that needed to be fixed, like the Storm OS's. It would be really interesting to see where the 5.0 builds go from .191 and what they could possibly enhance or fix only because I find this build to be pretty damn perfect, minus the BBM 5.0. If only they could create something this great for the Storm.
