RIM really needs to focus on consumer confidence as in business consumer and retail consumer. I recall earlier this summer about the carrier (was it in Dubai or Arab Emirates) that pushed out a "update" that was actually malicious software designed to track their BB users and send their secure emails to their servers for review. While I would like to say I am glad to live in the US, since this would never happen, whose to say it hasn't, won't or isn''t under review. Anyone?
One more thought, I would like .42, but since I am already running the latest hybrid I am not as concerned as I am about having a solid working 5.0 that is app supported otherwise what's the big deal about 5.0 if most of our apps don't work. If RIM would support their developers and allow them to get developer builds so they can begin to prepare for the big push that will inevitably take 12+ months to roll out over 100+ countries :aargh4:
Well shoot...lol
I'm playing today since the daughter is with Grandma, the puppy is asleep and the wife is resting (migraine)...just used Shrink-A-OS to reload .40 and see what happens. BUT am REALLLLLLLLLLLLY still wanting .191. Is there a fix for the USB issue (doesn't recognize the device 6 out of 10 times)?
Also, which radio seems to work the best? We have been put on a hybrid PRL from VZW because of cruddy signal until the Alltel changeover is done. .40? .140? .191?
Not sure on the usb issue? Like I said I don't have that issue at all. Does the usb issue happen on any other os or just .191?
I haven't noticed any different in the radio's for me between the three. They all seem to get about the same coverage IMO. But then again I am on VZW.
USB only happens on .191. But I may have run into an issue. Loading .40 has caused the phone to reboot twice now. I'm not sure if that's normal or not.
Are you still running .191?
We are on VZW as well. We changed from Sprint to VZW last month, but had no signal at our house. I was lucky to make a call, much less receive one. They pushed a PRL update to our phones.
And make that three reboots. Friggin great. Lemme find the "how to unbrick your phone" thread LMAO
Yes I am still on .191

Ahhhh thank you. I'm not sure what I did wrong. It gets to the BB loading screen and reboots.
Installing .191 now to the PC. As soon as it's done I'm going to reload it for a day to play. What's the word on FB 1.7? Anymore info on it?
PS: Will the instructions work when the phone is stuck in a reboot?
NVM got it out of the stuck reboot. Helps when you read.
What are DOD Root Certificates?

Then again...maybe not. Critical error when running apploader. Unable to install the OS and BBSAK cannot find the device![]()

I had the same issue with .191 and the usb connection. It really made a mess of my storm. It got to the point when I did a battery pull it wouldn't fully fire up until I plugged into the pc.
Really weird. I pulled .191 off and everything is fine.
Please keep in mind I have the telus handicap and needed to load at&t's service books to open a browser so it could have been that too

Well right now I'm stuck with a nuked phone. I get the AppLoader to break the reboot cycle but then I get:
A fatal error has occurred while updating your device's software. Please try again.
Device communications error encountered. [A:0x00000025]
OK went through the DOS prompt as Admin and am running a forced rebuild (NOJVM). So far so good. It appears to be loading the OS. However, I don't know if it will actually get past the loading screen this time LOL...this has been fun!
At least on WinMo I could smack the phone against the desk a few times and it worked great!

Sounds like a bad download.
What status did it leave your device in?

Reboot, loading screen, reboot, loading screen, reboot, etc. etc. etc.
Now I'm RE-RUNNING the nojvm AppLoader. It would not reconnect after a restart and finish the installation. I forgot to put the battery back in and am hoping that's all it was.
Right now I can't do anything but sit, wipe my tears, and pray a lot.
UPDATE: It "reconnected" and is loading applications. I'm not sure it's going to work yet ... cross your fingers

I would try downloading a different copy of .191 while you wait.

It's the same OS I used before. It's the VZW download that I restored with a few times. The only difference is that this time I went into Shrink-A-OS and changed the radio to the .140. I removed some of the files as well, but they were games and crap like that. I'll remove them from the device if they install.
It was .40. .191 is loading now. I've used that copy before as well. I'm at the BB loading screen and the progress indicator is actually moving. So far so good. Right about now is when it locked up before.
UPDATE: Looks like it's stuck on the loading screen again. Progress bar hasn't moved for at least three minutes.
