    Suggestions for os?

I had I believe .230 running on my tour... Considered upgrading but never did, and saw that Verizon released an official.. Downloaded it and I HATE it. The battery life is simply... awful! So i'm going to go back to .230, but is there a better build between .230 and Verizon's newest release? My main issue is that I NEED good battery life as i'm a pretty heavy user...

I don't have a Tour so I'm probably not the best to answer your question...and I'm mobile so limited in what I can do. If you've only had the OS on your phone for a short time...it does take some time to "settle"...and should improve. On the site there is a forum for your Tour, with a subforum for OS...leaked and official. You should check that out..and see if there is discussion thread

I've had it on there since it released... Done quite a bit of battery pulls and it's settled but the battery life is pretty bad... Especially for being "official"

check out the tour section in the downloads. See if there is a different version to what you have but after .230 and then check the forum to see if anyone has commented on its battery drain?

I've been running MTS official release of 419 since they released it....best build so far, IMO.

keep in mind it takes several days (if not weeks) for the OS to fully "settle in". Almost all "memory" and "battery" issues are do to upgrading/downgrading and installing/uninstalling apps.

If you are doing more than one pull a day, battery life will be hard to judge (a pull thrashes battery life.) If you are roaming battery life will be hard to judge.

If you can leave the OS/apps alone for 5-7 days you will start to get a feel for what the performance will be like. If you make any changes during this period you will need to reset the clock.

    .591

I don't get it. I did the OTA upgrade for .591 on my Tour and it worked. The Apps all still work and I am able to add more apps with fewer problems. My battery life is fine, unless I am talking/browsing too much. I did not loose any contacts, calendar entries or anything else. Yet I keep seeing people gripe about .591. So here I am, happy with my phone and OS. I finally have a BB that is fulfilling the promise of what the Tour should be and now Verizon is pulling the plug on the 9630. As the Tour is sold by others, will RIM still keep updating the OS?

I downloaded and installed .591 when it was a leaked version. When Verizon released it as official, I let DM load "core" modules it said needed to be added/updated. I have had none of the issues that I have seen others on this site as well as other sites complaining about. Battery life is very good, memory is very good, I have plenty of apps on the phone: Vlingo,Privacy Star, Docs to Go Premium, Meterberry, Quicklaunch, Data Vault, Cortado Workplace, Nobex Radio Companion, plus a half dozen or so others and I have no issues with any of them.

As long as other carriers are supporting the Tour, RIM will keep releasing the OS's (well for a short time).

You may find, like us Storm 1 users, that eventually the OS's just dry up.
Carriers around the world are still issuing Storms but not in the numbers the new devices are coming out.

Hell, even the 8100 series are still being issued in the UK! And they are the real poor cousins with regards to updates. The 8100 series is still on 4.5 or 4.6 as is the 8300 and 8320.

So the answer to your question is yes but with a mix of Not On Your Life! sorry

NOTE* A friend has just messaged me that the .419 is the best for battery life in the Tour.
He must have read this but be unable to post for now.
