Thread: OS 5.0.0.484 for the 9630 Findings and Fixes

Sprint released this OS last week, but it was only available through Desktop Manager. Today they released it for download online at the Blackberry Software Downloads page. Although this has been released by Sprint, you can still use it if your Tour is with another carrier by just deleting the vendor.xml file.

I have no issues with 419, just wondering if this upgrade is really worth my while?

any thoughts?

I have not experienced any major differences. I saw the build as more of a hybird with .419 as the base.

Well, I guess I'll giver a shot....what's the worst that can happen? :P

I have issues. This seems worse than 419.

Everything about my BB is now slower
my BB can no longer go into standby mode
when my BB is turned off & unplugged, the screen turns on every few seconds for no good reason.

I will downgrade back to 419...

It has a top bar that says 8900 on most applications ? anyone upgade yet and seen this... it's really odd....otherwise the SW is running great...

i have had it since its release date for sprint and nothing major good or bad. .419 was just as good and i could still use my side keys to lock my phone (i dont like the dedicated top key at all!!) i just dont get why an official release sends your service books every time you do a bat pull, rather annoying. and my last text in my inbox gets brought back as unread also annoying. but i would rather have both of these issues over os 4 any day. also can anyone tell me where they hide your notification sounds? i can only find my ringtones and my calendar ones in the calendar itself.

I have noticed one thing thats been progressively going down. My battery life..Im not using the phone really anymore than I was before but man its getting worse. Aside from that all seems good so far

in case anyone is wondering and don't already know, they have hidden all the notifications setting to the sound profiles profiles.

does anyone have a text message issue with this build i cant open sms and sometimes it will say i have new message and it previews i but when i click on it the message field is blank does any have clue or have fix for this issue

Have you tried a clean install (with a wiped BlackBerry)?

I loaded 484 about a week ago. I had 419 for quite a while before trying 530 for a week or so. 484 seems to run better and my battery life seems to be improved over 419, but maybe it just seems that way after having 530, which was way to buggy and not worth the effort to try. 484 is working perfectly for me, not a single issue.
