It is a free download for everyone. Please post fixes and findings here. Make sure that you delete the vendor file if you don't use shrink a os. I shrunk to 31MB!!!

Please install this exe over a fresh install of .419 on your PC.

Edit : This is not an official RIM installer and it is for the 9630

Does this need to be installed over another OS? I just don't want anyone to confuse this for the real OS that uses the RIM installer if it's not.

Sorry. In my haste to post I left out that important detail. I updated the OP.

This will use a fresh install of 419 on your pc to apply the correct alx files. When you are done you will have full 484 as if you were a sprint user. I want to point out that it is very important to delete the vendor.xml file to make this run. If you use Shrink A Os packaged in my exe then it will remove it for you when you click shrink.

What SMS troubles? My daughter has a 9630 and was thinking of putting this on her phone, but text msg issues will be a non-starter.

Driphter, can you list for us what devices this will work on so people don't get the wrong idea and try to install on a device it won't work on? Thank you.

This build does NOT like the 3G patch - Java Exception errors like crazy. Had to put the original file back, restore backups, fun stuff. Seems OK now ... will look forward to an 'official' build.

Driphter, that was your patch originally, is there something you need to adjust on that or is it not in the cards this time?

firstly to say I reckon the effort you put into the Tour 9630 is excellent and very many appreciative users.

This release is only 50MB... the new OP is a good thing, but why are most releases over 100MB, I can't help but feel I'm not installing the full 484? How much of the 419 remains? Would you call this one a hybrid?

I can't speak for every hybrid builder, but as hard as we work to build and add files that make the os better, we do tend to take the lazy way out on deleting unnecessary files. What this means is there are roughly 20MB of files that won't actually load to your device when you launch loader.exe. The other 20MB can be language files, other carrier's themes, and wifi files. For the Tour they are useless to us.

It is easier for us to leave them in then take them all out. Sometimes I preshrink all the languages out and sometimes I don't. This is the difference between a 95MB hybrid and a 75MB build

With all that being said, The only number that matters is how much free memory you have when you get the os loaded. I'm always running roughly 127MB free.

Thanks for the info. To the question tonster76 asked, is your file a hybrid or are the CDMA and Java files 100% .484? I'm curious, as I've your v6 hybrid loaded on my daughter's Tour and it runs very well, but might try a straight .484.

This is both the 484 Java and 484 CDMA and when installed over 419 you only will have several 419 files in the build. These 419 files are not from my installer. They are left over from the original 419 install when you layed the base. 484 is a really small java folder.

Ok, thanks. Think we'll give 'er a whirl.

Nice one Driphter, yep been working for 24 hours, not one reboot, hang or issue... probably smoother if anything, all good upgraded from 419 to your 484. perfect. Cool to have the new platform version on there.

I connected my phone today to charge it and it gave me a update. So I did ad I have 484 with out using this. So the Tour2 might be out soon waiting for my guy at sprint to give me a call back and Ill post my findings.
