Question about adding input language
I'm trying to help a friend add both Japanese characters and font support as well as Japanese input method to a Tour. I found an official OS release v18.104.22.168/22.214.171.124 from Reliance that has East Asian languages on it including Japanese characters and font support but it does not have Japanese input method. If I want to add the appropriate files for Japanese input method, which of the following OS options is the best place to get them from.
1) A 4.7.0 OS for the Storm 9500/9530 since that's the most similar version to the Tour OS.
2) A 4.6 OS for the Curve 8900 or Bold 9000 since that's the next closest version to the Tour 4.7 OS from a non-touch screen device.
3) A 5.0 OS for any Blackberry since that should have the newest Japanese cod files.
I guess ultimately my question is are the cod files compatible across different OS versions?
Second, after I finally select an OS to use for the Japaneses cod files, should I take all the files including the Japanese characters and font support files from the other OS or should I keep the ones from the Tour OS that I found and just add the missing ones?
I know about the leaked OS version 126.96.36.1999 as well as the hybrids out there but my friend doesn't want to use any unofficial software releases.
Thanks in advance.
