Any reports on the radio? My amount of dropped calls is almost in the 3-digits since I got the phone last July. Well I was never able to provision with .230 on Sprint though, not sure if that helped much...
Has anyone run into the issue of the enhanced gmail plug-in not working with 419? It is installed, but it does not give me the ability to add star, archive, etc. I had to download it from an old link. I have noticed that when I registered the gmail account (several times) that I never got the automatic email with the download link. Any ideas or fixes?
I just wanted to update everyone on this issue. If you run into it, the BIS account delete and re-add does the trick.

Enhanced plugin works fine for me. I'm using it with a apps hosted domain.
Registering the account gives me the message with the link to download the plugin.
Yours must think it's a standard Imap account still which is why the plugin will not work on that account. BIS must detect the account as a gmail account otherwise the plugin will certainly fail to do anything for you.
still being annoyed by the "press r to reply" every time that i want to reply to an sms. anyone know a way to disable? this is my only complaint, oh and the waking from sleep taking a while sometimes...
Good info. How do I make the blackberry recognize the account as a Gmail account and not just an IMAP account? Is there a setting in GMAIL, BIS, or the tour that controls this? I have added and removed the account several times both from the BIS site and the device itself. on .230, and previous 5.0 os's, this happend automatically. Again, thanks for the help.
The only way I know to get the BIS server to redetect what type of server you are using is to delete your email in the BIS account and recreate it again. If you have created a bunch of server side filters on the BIS interface you would loose them and you would need to setup your signature, BCC, etc info again.
If the server still insists on setting up your email as a POP or IMAP account instead of the direct conduit "which looks plain and generic in comparison with respect to server options" you could delete your entire BIS account, wait a few hours and then put it back again and see if it's working. You need your carrier to do it for you, there is no way to delete your own BIS account. But the blackberry technical support department of your carrier can delete your BIS account for you. They may also be useful in troubleshooting why it doesn't detect the account as a gmail server and insists on using imap.
I have personally had a domain that was moved to google apps from a generic hosting account and the BIS server never recognized that it was now hosted on Google. It seemed to remember the old setting forever until the next big BIS upgrade at least and then finally it would integrate with the direct conduit which made push email and the plugin work for that domain. I tried to submit a ticket through my carrier to have it fixed but the carriers tier 2 refused to push the ticket over to RIM since they claimed that I was getting email properly even though instant push wasn't working and it should have been for a google apps domain. Tier 2 at my carrier has only one purpose, to find reasons to close tickets and prevent engineers from being "bothered" with tickets. I'm sure a lot of terrible tickets get generated by tier 1 but they also block the good ones for the most trivial of reasons.
Telus Tier 2 Data and Network Assistance sucks big time in my opinion. Tier 1 are great and the engineers are great, but the bureaucratic middle layer is toxic.
Sorry, bit of a rant there.
Anyhow delete your accounts from BIS, wait a bit and then add them back again and see if that does the trick. If the plugin is installed on your device you likely don't need to do anything on the blackberry device side of things.
I upgraded from .230 to .419 just because there was an update. With .230 the only problem i was having is that i could not delete multiple SMS messages at a time. With .419 im noticing a loss of battery life. For those of you who have used both OS's which is better? Is the problem with .230 of deleting multiple SMS corrected?
I scanned this thread and I might have missed the question I'm about to ask so I apologize if so.
Does BBM 5.0 work with this new OS?
Thanks for the info. I've been a little out of the loop since I could not get the last OS to load on my device. I'm about to try this leak and see if it works.
I had verizon delete my BIS account, setup a new account, re-loaded 2 email addresses, and still no enhanced gmail plugin love. Anyone have any new ideas other than a 3rd OS install?
The only bug that I have found so far that I didnt have with 4.7 OS, on my Tour, is that there is about a 8 second delay once I hit a button, to get the actual back light to turn on. Other than that, I >3 IT!!
Aaannddd....
There is one more..
If my backlight is off for more than an hour due to inactivity.. which let me tell you NEVER happens.. then its almost like its rebooting before it will turn the screen on..

Did they "fix" the "hit r to reply" thing from the leak to the official? I am going to assume not...
