Pl confirm u r getting EDGE on ur main screen - next to NW symbol. If it is 'edge'. pl let me know.
    1. If u r getting 'security disabled', then ur handset is unlocked. I am assuming that u r able to make voice calls & send/rx SMS.
    2. Again goto Options - Adv options - TCP/IP. Just check APN settings and write Vodafone APN as "www". Leave APN Auth unchecked. If u activate gprs, then u can now use ur BB as a modem.
    3. Again goto Options-Adv Options-Service Books. What all entries are there? Step back. Goto Host Routing table. Press BB key (with many dots) & select 'Register now"
    4. What BB Plan u have? Vodafone has various BB plans but all doesn't give all features. So Pl chk with Voda if ur existing BB Plan supports BBM.
    5. Also in Mobile networks, pl select 2G. Voda NW has problme if u r selecting 2G & 3G but 3g is not available/active. Voda is still testing 3G & is not available from all cell sites.
    Hope above helps

    1. Well.. if it is not EDGE, then your BB service is not active.
    2. Rs 15 is per day plan. So you need to get it activated daily to avail BIS servce. This may be reason that you are not able to use BIS anymore as that one day is already over.
Chk out the Prepaid BIS tariff at Vodafone BlackBerry connect: Features - Charges - Supporting handsets | India

If you are going to use your BB services on 7x24 basis, pl opt for Monthly Plan ie BIS 399 which is valid for 30 days.

    Hope you find this useful.
    Thanks

    HI,

lately i am facing the same issue with my Storm 2 9550 and Vodafone.
i have been using this handset for past 1 year without any issues. however, suddenly my blackberry services have stopped working.
i tried using my Vodafone SIM in a different BB and i do get EDGE immediately. tried a different SIM (on which i know BB Services are active) on my 9550 to no success.
    i have tried -
    Wiping the complete handset.
    APN Setting is unchecked.
    Network mode - 2G

    any assistance would be helpful.
    Thanks.

Hello, is your network settings checked to Global?

Also, make sure that your carrier hasn't changed your service plan.

    Thanks for ur reply.
as i had mentioned in my earlier reply.

i checked my SIM in another BB and it worked fine. got EDGE immediately.
tried another BB active SIM in the Storm and i do not get EDGE.
which means, the issue does not seem to be from the service provider.

what i have been told is that the Verizon Storm 2 handset are having issues as BB (RIM) has stopped service for these. i was advised to visit BB service center and to ask them to Unlock Data services and it might work. Is it possible for RIM to lock only Data services for specific Handsets??

the network setting is on Global now. earlier i had selected GSM/UMTS, so that i could keep the mode to 2G.
still no success. do not get EDGE.

Not that I know of. I've heard of another user having this issue.

    1) From your dial pad type ##000000 and push SEND.
    2) On the first line erase what is there and type your phone number including area code.
    3) Also add the your phone number to the second line as well. Mobile Directory Number: Add you phone # here
    4) Push BB Button and save.

Here is some stuff I found online...

    1. Under Options, click Mobile Network
    2. Change the Network Selection Mode field to Manual
    3. Click Scan for Available Networks
    4. Select a wireless network
    5. Click Select Network.
    6. Press the Menu key
    7. Click Save
    8. Change the Access Point Network to BlackBerry
    a. go to Settings / Advanced Options / TCP
    b. Change the default APN to BlackBerry.Net

What if I can’t connect to a wireless network?
    Try performing the following actions:
    – If you are trying to connect to a GSM network, verify that your phone is in global
roaming mode and that your SIM card is inserted correctly.
    – Verify that you have turned on the connection to the wireless network.
    – Verify that you are connected to your wireless service provider's network. If you
switched wireless networks manually, your phone remains connected to that
wireless network until you select your wireless service provider's network again.
    – If you have specified a specific wireless network connection speed, verify that
you are in a wireless coverage area that supports the connection speed.

Hello, tarujansari, we have been hearing a lot of users from India with 9550 devices are having issues. The latest I've heard on this is that users with older numbers are no longer being supported by the carrier. Which means you would have to get a new number.

I would call your service provider to see if you can confirm this and let us know.
