Thread: 9520 - 0x0D001404 vs 0x0E001404 - are they physically different?

Dear all,

Does anybody happen to know if 0x0D001404 and 0x0E001404 are PHYSICALLY different?

Or are they simply LOGICALLY different (the former with DRM features turned ON and the latter with DRM features turned OFF by software switch or hardware switch [jumpers, DIP switches, etc.])?

Vodafone does, so this 'nodrm' version will not install. In fact DM and Loader will not even acknowledge it's existence on your hard drive.

Please enlighten me, which files are you talking about? Is it the name of the radio.sfi? If so, mine even has DRM in the name...

Apologies for having put a question to you in such an ambiguous manner.

I believe that 9500 devices marketed through various carriers in many countries have been all DRM editions (HWID: 0x06001404) which work with rim0x06001404OMADRM.sfi.

Meanwhile, it appears that two variations of 9520 devices exist - DRM editions (HWID: 0x0D001404) work with rim0x0D001404.sfi, while non-DRM editions (HWID: 0x0E001404) work with rim0x0E001404.sfi.

I wonder if it would be possible for us to convert the former into the latter, and vice versa, (in other words, to rewrite HWID) by manipulating a logical software switch or a physical hardware switch (jumpers, DIP switches, etc.) . . . if 9520 devices are ever equipped with such (hidden) switches.

I wonder why 0x0E001404 (non-DRM edition of 9520 device) is NOT found in

https://www.blackberry.com/Desktop/D...XML/Device.xml

while it is found in

https://www.blackberry.com/Desktop/D...XML/Vendor.xml

(as of today 23 instances of 0x0E001404 vs 19 instances of 0x0D001404).

P.P.S.

Perhaps it is the carrier that selects 0x0D001404 or 0x0E001404. It appears that BT Mobile has been selling non-DRM edition of 9520 devices in the U.K.

yes, i'm curious too is there a way to install NonDRM radio file into DRM one..
since i need Jap input badly...
tried some renaming and hybrid some file like i did on my old storm...
but all in vain since i cant find the correct radio file that support jap input on DRM type of storm..
