    9520 OS 5.0.0.428 Findings & Fixes

Well it sure has been a little while since we've seen an OS leak. There's been a few versions rumored to be in the wild. One of them being OS 5.0.0.428 for the 9520.

Warning: Please remember that this IS NOT an official release OS. If you wish to install this OS keep in mind that this may cause your phone to not function correctly. BlackberryOS and any other BlackberryOS Official sites are not responsible. If you are not comfortable and/or unsure as how to upgrade to this OS, please click the link below.

No doubt...Let's get the leaks going again....

I hope .428 for the 9520 is as good as .428 was/is for the 9550.

I disagree w/you with that. 428 for my S2(9550) was Sluggish, battery drain, memory leak(Not too concern about that though), a couple of my pertinant apps didn't work correctly and I've read a lot of negative feedbacks supporting my opnion. If it worked for you, Am happy for you. I went back to Irthe's Build V and 320, and My S2 is my friend again..lol

    No DRM?

I am on Vodafone and I previously installed .402 on my 9520 without issue?
Although it did keep crashing every time I opened the camera :17:

There were 2 different builds of .402 released on the same day.

The first one was like this one 'nodrm'

    9520_omanodrmjAllLang_PBr5.0.0_rel689_PL4.2.0.182_A5.0.0.428.ex e

Vodafone handsets require the 'drm' version to install.

    (digital rights management)

You will find that DM or Loader will not acknowledge this build when you go to install it. As it is a leak and not a vendors official release, deleting the vendor file will have no affect.

The file you installed .402 with was...

    9520M_PBr5.0.0_rel638_PL4.2.0.171_A5.0.0.402.exe

See how the 'nodrm' part is not present in the file name?

That really makes no sense i have run tons of builds released from all carriers the vendor file is what affects that I would try seaching for the vendor.xml on your pc, and additionly try deleting everything reinstall and then reinstalling everything

This OS should work just fine on any 9520, regardless of carrier.

Hi Sunkast, it doesn´t work regardless of carrier. My carrier is vodafone.

DRM has nothing to do with the vendor file. PLUS you only have to delete the vendor file if you are using an official carrier release (because it is bound to that carrier not your own)

A leak is not bound to any carrier yet, so it makes no difference whether you delete the vendor file or not.

Robin a lot of times if you don't delete the vendor most of the time the OS will not show to load. Tied to carrier or not the vendor file will limit the OS for most people.

Mmm... interesting. These people that have this issue, it would be interesting to see what the size of their existing vendor file is.

My original one was 362KB, but after I deleted it, DM or the next installation wrote a new one that was only 1KB. It contained a couple of headers and that was it, so maybe that has the same affect as not having a vendor file at all.

This NO DRM issue have been happening to all previous release. Unlike the rest of BB 9520 from Vodafone will not be able to install the NODRM version. You can delete vendor.xml and try to trick DM in installing it but it wont work at all.

DM will recognize it in the database but when you hook up the BB it wont be able to recognize the OS at all. Tested on 402 until someone at crackberry actually leak the DRM version. mfg:

So please if someone could leak it....
