An indent sure press screen...(which is instead of the entire screen clicking, the response is triggered by finger pressure....Wi-fi (ipod 3rd gen. has announced wireless N) that's serious. Class nine card reader (the lag in the media player and picture viewer is not in the OS but the inability to read fast memory cards. It's rated as class 2 though some say it can read class 6. But we all know it prehistorically lags in the Media section. Who knows, it may also be made ready for 4G, but as far as I know that's in the Storm 3rd Gen. featured for 2010.

Oh by the way...it will also be lighter.

Plus the storm touch screen is actually not a touch screen at all. It's actually the RIM OS placed on a device where the screen is one large button emulating the same effects as the famous blackberry ball. Passing your finger up and down the screen is the same action as rolling your finger up and down the ball. Stop on the highlighted icon you selected just like with the ball and click down on the screen just like you would with the ball. The button for the ball is now placed behind the screen. it's the clicking of the screen (ball) that triggers the run command. so it's actually not a true touch screen without the Button. The storm would be useless if the screen couldn't click. So all the screen is is a button (a large ball) follow me? The storm needs and entire completely separate OS. Which is why Verizon isn't happy.

Nice overview of the new additions. Most of which I have heard of too. But keep in mind it is VZW so I always take the approach I will believe it when I see it.

That's the only problem. But RIM has a reputation to uphold. Verizon's lag in releasing Official OS's provided by RIM is only hurting RIM's reputation because as Verizon Customer's most of us are already locked in (Contract wise) So RIM will show hey, we have a brand new touch screen and we have a brand new OS. Complain to your carrier.

I agree plus VZW is committed to the Storm. If they weren't they would not be releasing Storm 2. Which while it pisses me they didn't get it right the first time, if they can come up with a better keyboard mechanism, wifi and a better browser would be fantastic for the consumer.

Definitely indeed. And what I tell everyone is that Apple only has one phone which is the iphone. So they can pump every last dollar into apps and an OS upgrade a month. But RIM has so many different Model Blackberry's to keep updated that it is a much larger scale. But that's a different topic...But as you said yes...the first gen Storm was rushed for sales...a device belonging to the most used phone business wise and corporate wise has no wi-fi to connect to a corporations internal secured wireless network but instead has to use Verizon's data plan? It was rushed...verizon was not satisfied...thus the lack in OS upgrades until the agreement for a 2nd gen upgrade.

Verizon knows it will not see sales by announcing hey we have an OS update for the storm...there is no possible marketing strategy for that. But in order to see figures and long lines at the Verizon store is to say ok, here it is...what you all been waiting for...Storm 2. the way it should have been released, with 5.0 software. I know I'll be online...would you Jlevy? lol

I still hope we will see more leaked OSs but you are right they have certainly slowed down. Hopefully we will start seeing more official OSs hit the street from different carriers. I know Telus is about to release a new one shortly.
