Voice Dial on .328 - A fix?
When the pre-release .328 leak file starting hitting the web, I downloaded and installed it. I did a clean install after wiping my device. I loved it with the exception of the themes and more importantly the inability to get the voice dialing application to recognize anything. I downgraded back to an earlier hybrid that had been working well.
Last night, when I plugged my 9530 into my Mac, it asked if I wanted to upgrade to .328. Just because I wanted to see if the Mac upgrade worked, I decided to let it do it's thing and upgrade me.
To my great surprise, .328 installed perfectly, and now even my voice dialing is working. I decided afterwards to remove the excess garbage that I didn't need, so I booted into Windows XP and did a Shrink an OS using the same downloaded version I got from the SmithMicro site for VZW. Once done, everything still worked fine.
It appears to me that there are differences from the leaked version .328 and the final Verizon version .328. I realize that the build info is the same, and that technically everything else should be the same - but it's not. So, if you're having issues with Voice Dialing with .328 - voice recognition, I'd recommend giving it a roll. Normally I would have just passed on .328 until the next Hybrid or release, but I kept hearing that some folks didn't have this issue, while others, like me, had unusable VAD function.
