Thread: feature on my gfs phone but not mine?!

hey guys i was wondering if any one has noticed when you click sms/mms and open a previous conersation how it shows the callback number right above the text box. well i didnt even know this was part of the update till i was messing with my gfs phone and hers does it. how ever whats really weird is mine does not have it. i have opened a bunch of different sms conversations and its not showing me the callback number. also her menu is different then mine when you hit the menu button. i have no idea why we both have the same OS. only thing i did different on hers was i used DM to load from VZW but then we shrunk the downloaded .328 and loaded over hers. Mine i loaded just shrunk .328 over a wipe. any info i appreciate.

so i thought i would reload my os not shrinking this time to see if it would work and it did not work. it still does not show the callback feature and in general my menu is different then hers in the sms/mms menu. i think i have a bad backup file because the enhanced gmail plugin doesnt work properly either. looks like im going to have to go through the pain of just backing up contacts only and starting over fresh......sad sad

i know how to get that on there!!!!!!!!!

take off the g mail plug in
back up the files
wipe the phone
re install 328
and it should work

hmmm this gmail plugin seems to cause more problems then its worth for me. i am in the process of wiping my phone and i am only gonna restore contacts for a while and see what works and what does. then ill delete gmail plugin and see whats fixed. my biggest issue with the enhanced gmail plugin is that when i have it on there after a fresh install all my emails show up in the messages folder but not the email folder wich is annoying to me. i should be sleeping but oh well.....i could use a fresh install or 2 or 3......

at least i got to play with a storm 2 today at the vzw store that was fun.

how was it ??? i talked my way into getting a free one because i argued that the storm 1 is a crappy phone. they said that they put a new out OS for the storm 1 to make it run smoother i argues that putting a new os on a phone that has hardware issues is like painting and old car that has no working parts!

your lucky lol ive only have my storms about 7 months and its good for me but uhh yea it still doesn't show the callback feature. ive done an advanced restore and restores contacts and messages and sms/mms messages and when i open up txts it doesn't show the callback number like it does on my girlfriends phone. nothing is different either her contacts are saved in her phone just like mine and neither of us have the gmail plugin but hers works right and mind doesn't. this is ridiculous.

I could be wrong but as far as I know the callback number feature only displays if you are on Verizon and the contact you are talking to is also on Verizon. One funny thing about that. Lets say my sms contact is John Smith and hes using big red. so the sms screen will show me the contact number. If I hit the BB button it gives me a bunch of options. 2 of them being "call John Smith" and the other "call callback number"????? kinda redundant, huh? isnt the callback number John Smith?

To be honest I would trade. would rather have the sms real estate than have that space taken up by displaying the contact number. I know the number, i dont need to be reminded. calling is as easy as hitting the send button. So what is the purpose of the callback number being displayed?

I second that. The call back number field gets in the way and if i had my choice i'd remove it. take it for what it is, a blessing!!!!!:aargh4:
