Thread: gmail plugin.....frusterating

hey people since this new official OS and the gmail plugin my emails were moved from my email inbox icon on my phone to my messages icon. all my new emails goto my email folder but i want my old messages back into my email folder and not in messages. i have tried and tried. i delted my email and added it back. nothing seems to work. i even delted the enhanced gmail plugin with bbsak and all my messages are stuck in the messages folder. I have had this exact same crap happen with the gmail plugin previosly when i tried it and its really making me angry. hope you have some ideas. id like to get my emails back to there normal place

It's most likely a bug with GMail...since the OS was changed pretty significantly. The messages only appear on Messages or in both?

well they show up only in messages. even though they used to be in the email icon/folder. when i goto messages hit menu and then goto view folders i also have 4 inbox folders and 4 folders called spam....WTF. i even tried to delete the gmail plugin to see if my emails would go back to the email folder but no there stuck in the messages folder. I hate the messages folder and i cant find a way to move them back. how sickening

Which version has it worked on? I hear many people able to get it working...but issue is at this time of night, you might not hear much responses....especially that site was down. I will look around for you, though.

well I have always had this problem with it and so ive always deleted it. now this time i delete it and my emails didnt move back to my email icon/folder. i just now got done reloading the .328 fresh and am gonna do a restore and see were my emails goto. hope they goto email folder.

Oh, ok...Have you tried downloading gmail from m.google.com/gmail?

no i have seen mentions of the app before. i liked being able to get my email using the icon like normal. i dont need stupid starring and flagging and all that BS i just wanna use it. im sick of it right now ill have to go to bed and deal with it monday cause right now it just is so stupid. for some reason in my backup i created i have 4 inbox folders and 4 spam folders. cant delete them dont know how or why but i only start out with 1 until i restore my backup. once your backup is screwed up its kind of hard to fix....regardless my old emails should not be moved. they need to stay in the email icon not just new emails go there cause gmail feels like it!

guess this is the same reason i refuse to use themes. every time i try one it moves allllll my icons onto my home screen and out of my folders and im like oh ok thanks alot you pos. DELETE.

Unfortunately, that's how all themes work...but after you set it to where you want it, DM usually saves the settings. I love themes and change them frequently and phone saves my settings...even when a new version comes out, I just replace it with new one and am good to go. I do add a few folders and so on, so my settings are pretty customized. I hope you find a fix for gmail...I will keep looking for you.

i appreciate the help. i reloaded the os and then restored and its doing the same thing. i think it has to do with my backup but im not sure. it did not do it on my girl friends phone but there is so much stuff in the backup to go through and do one by one its impossible to see whats causing it. Even if i do a security wipe of my contacts and stuff and just add my gmail into BIS it doesnt show my emails that should technically be collected from gmail and shown. it only shows ones received from that point on and puts current ones in messages.

I will keep looking but will also forward your issue on to see if we can all come up with a solution.

can you check and goto messages > menu > view folders> and see how many you have named inbox and spam. I have 4 inbox and 4 spam and it just seems weird to be. dont know how they got there.

I have 6 email accounts being pushed to my bb, so have an Inbox/Spam for each...making 6 total of each.

there should be 1 Inbox with an expand button next to it, then 1 spam folder, slightly offset from the inbox folder, for each email addy you have set up. if there are more, something is corrupted, and you should only restore contacts after a full bbsak wipe and os reload to make sure there are no issues

yea i only have 1 email addy. I know for sure that those other 3 inbox/spam folders appear when i upload the "folders" option using DM advanced restore. it shows 12 items being restored under that option. im going to delete the "folders" option from my restore and then restore all. Unfortuanly i dont have another backup so gotta figure something out. right now after security wipe it shows 1 inbox 1 spam folder and doesnt have any messages....shouldnt it collect my emails from the gmail server when i add the email account? anyway im gonna try to do a restore but deleting the folders option and see what happens.

try this: BBSAK wipe, then reload fresh again. before you do your backup, click advanced, and just do the options 1 at a time, find the one that has an issue, delete it, and you should be good. its gonna take forever, but then you know where the issue is.

do you know if i delete anything real important if it will be recreated if needed? like folders and such? i assume if i delete a common used folder it would be recreated but im not sure.

Hey guys, I have noticed one thing after wiping all my contacts and settings. i booted up and added my gmail account and rebooted. now when my phone first boots up there are 2 email icons. both the same and when i click on it ALL MY emails are there like normal but sadly when i close it only 1 email icon is there. if i dont click on it right away 1 disappears and it shows the broken email icon with no emails in it....so irritating.

Go to home screen and change view to show all and then choose the email folders snd unhide and whalaa all your email account folders will be visible .
