I have been monitoring the "Verizon upgrading all Storms to Storm 2?" post. I think I will test drive the Droid but will wait and see about VZ offering some kind of deal for S1 to S2.

I'm having the same problem, and my two friends that updated to OS 5 are having the same low playback volume issues. Just called Verizon and they said I was the first one to mention this. The solution is to go back to 4.7, which is not a good solution in my opinion. Guess RIM nor VZW will work on this until enough people complain.

Olta, the Storm has PLENTY of memory (compared to very popular models such as the Curve 8330) - I have the following installed on mine:

Currently sitting at 31.2MB and literally doesn't move.
IMHO, the biggest problem in the world of BB applications isn't insufficient memory on the devices (although more is ALWAYS better). The problem is programmers who think they can get by with sloppy coding. An app shouldn't use app memory when it isn't even running, however, so many apps do. Most of the apps on the platform are ports from WinMo or Linux-based OSes though, where the app would be coded in C++; a little more care needs to be taken when writing an app in Java. More memory on the device is a band-aid fix for what amounts to sloppy programming.
In other words, I firmly believe that 99% of the software-related issues people have with their Storms is caused by poorly coded apps; and not a problem with the device itself. I can turn my Storm that runs like a dream into a laggy P.O.S. simply by installing one badly written app.
Unfortunately, ePocrates was one of these apps.

I have read thread after thread on how to gain app memory. Can you please cut through all the useful but varying opinions and suggest or direct me to the best way to gain memory. I am booting at 10.0 after the new official upgrade (.328). I do subscribe to VZ VVM and Navigator which I know take some space.
Thanks in advance.

what other apps do you have installed on the phone? Chances are if you are booting that low you have quite a few apps... are you saving your pics and videos to your memory card or the device?

All pictures (not many) are on card. Without listing all the applications, I have 29 apps. and 7 launchers. I added it up to approx. 13mb.
