Thread: Rolling reboot error after installing 238/287 lyrical hyrbrid

My storm is rebooting over and over and over and I can not wipe it because of this. Anyone know how to wipe or brick this phone if it keeps rebooting before I can get it to connect to BBSAK?

The reason why it is doing this probably isn't the hybrids fault. I did install it correctly but after installing it I restored the data and found all the archived icons to be annoying so I went into the phone with the windows explorer and deleted all the data for app world and then pulled the battery and now the phone is trashed. I suppose that probably wasn't the best way to delete the archives!

Ok, interesting discovery!!!

I activated my 8230 pulled the memory card on the storm and held down the power button for 30 seconds (I'm pretty sure that does absolutely nothing but HEY I gave it a try) and the phone is up and running.

I'm guessing the pulling of the memory card somehow solved this issue. I also noticed that the archived icons are still on my phones desktop!!!

So yeh I will be bricking the phone re-installing the os and this time I will only be restoring the contacts and custom word dictionary.

FUN STUFF! Glad my phone isnt destroyed!

If your phone is doing constant reboots, you need to activate bbsak when the start up bar is approximately 1/5 to 1/3 on a boot then it will connect and wipe.

Another thing u can do is hold down the return key and it will start your phone in safe mode... Hold it til the phone boots.

And maybe try jlcmdr for wiping when its stuck like that instead of bbsak

it wasn't booting up far enough to use either of those programs... However I didn't know about the return key thing. It seems to be fine now that I removed the memory card. I am going to format the mem card and I am going to re-wipe and reload the phone and I'm not going to restore the onboard memory this time around.

It def gave me a scare though.

I am running .230/238/287 of OS. but I could not open the attachment from my email. It said that:"need to save and open it". How to save or open it.

No, I did not do anything. I just load the hybrid of .238/287 and run over fresh .230. Pull some batteries. That is all. When I open the attached, a JavaScipt alert appeared: "to open this attachment, you must save it to your disk. Right-click the link and then click Save. With a single-buton mouse, hold the button down over the link, and then click Save". I use bbkey: select, menu, back,...(I open the email by Operamini)

i would try possibly wiping and reloading or connecting to the pc and opening dm and making sure that you arent missing anything like attacment

Before you wipe and reload, double check that you have the BlackBerry Attachment Service installed on your phone.

I already checked it. I can save attached file by browser but not with Opera

That doesn't make sense. You said the problem was opening attachments in an email, that shouldn't have anything to do with the Browser or Opera unless you mean you are logging into an email service via the browser.

That 's right. I logged in an email service via the browser, I can save the attached . and can not save or open the attached via log-in via opera

Sounds like just a limitation of the browser then for what you are trying to do.
