    forgetting about 9530 owners

I live in Ecuador have a 9530 and have been using 167 since september, with no complains. Good signal, no edge/EDGE problems, few applications though. Was interested in upgrading to the 5.0.0.230 OS but so far haven't seen most people happy with it. With the appearance of the Storm 2, what are the chances that we will see more improvements in the OS for the 9530? There are talks about .288, but will we see something really better than .167? Let's hope that RIM doesn't forget the existence of 9530 owners.

Opinions are like A$*holes bro... Everybody has one.
There are people who will whine just to see themselves whine on forums... Some more than others.

Load up .230 and judge for yourself. I think you will be very happy with it as compared to .167

I dont believe they will. They are still making new builds for the 9530 and since there will be sooooo many people that have one I am sure you will see plenty of updates for them

Definatley Load .230, you phone will never have worked better! If you are brave enough, load one of those hybrids, oh so smooth. But boogeeman69 is correct, your opinion is the only one that should matter to you. You can always go back, but you wont

I called Verizon ( However, I do not know who your carrier in Eucador is) Customer Service a few days ago asking if there will be any incentive for Storm 1 owners to upgrade to a Storm 2. Customer service was unaware of any such program as of Friday, nor a launch date.

In addition, he stated that in the past, when Verizon has issued a newer version of a device that they typically release as OS to 'make them as close as possible'. My experience with Customer Service during the 8+ years that I have been with Verizon has always been excellent. It may not be what I want to hear, but it is accurate. However, my experience with sales reps in Verizon stores is a whole different opinion....I trust very little that comes out of their mouths!!

The long and short of it is, I hope Big Red releases something shortly for S1 owners, but I also believe that this will be the last one that we will see. All other work will be for the S2.

My only reason for not going to a 5.0 OS is that Vlingo does not play nice with it. Vlingo states that an upgrade is "in the works", which means it will happen "sometime". I rely very heavily on Vlingo!!! I also look forward to BBC's V10 which is in the works.

    Have a blessed day all!

    Rocks!

    Wirelessly posted

RIM will continue to support all their phones. I'm not worried about it.
