Try it and see, but I bet the SFI pukes all over the place
let us know how that works out for you, there are some other crazies out here too.
you'll brick your phone, it won't work
Running BB 9930 7.0.0.353

It won't load. I tried.![]()
All java replacement results in continuous reboot cycles and device error 920. Cod changes app error 523, 200 etc. Let the experts do it

Olta is right. I gave it up after replacing about 7 files one by one. Hybrid making is for the patient!

Nah.. The reboot loop from from the java folder, not the sfi.

Ya canny beat a good leak! :fing02:
Sorry... I was confirming your findings. I was doing it before I read your post.
I should have waited.
Loading up the 296 java now... I am a glutton for punishment :duh:
The SFI file STILL wouldn't be compatible; for the same reason a 9500 OS will not even be detected as an available update for a 9530 - the hardware ID for the SFI and the hardware ID of the device must match. Since there is no way to MAKE them match; the OS simply won't show up as an available update.
EDIT: even loading the Java from the .252 device emulator doesn't work on top of .230 (gives a 562 reload software error) so i'm not surprised that .287 files don't play nice with the .230 SFI

Hey no worries
I have played with java and still don't know a lot in depth...but I love doing it still...thing is, if I screw up, I know how to get out of it...and many of our starters don't.
So...anyone that messes with any files, please make sure that you feel comfortable doing so...and know your way out if it doesn't go so smooth.![]()
You know, this might sound silly, but I almost think that bricking (and recovering) your device should be a rite-of-passage for ANY Blackberry owner - especially if they are going to even THINK of updating their OS at any point and time. Even an official OS can EASILY brick the device, and it's alot more convenient to take the time to learn how to recover it; rather than taking it back to the store.
Like I said, it might sound silly..... But you wouldn't do any hardcore tinkering with a PC without knowing how to reformat the drive and reload the OS.
Hmm, much as I respect you guys, I think I'll still try to avoid bricking anything... <knocks fiercely on wood>.
.75 -> .148 -> .151 Hybrids -> v5
Better and better!
