Thread: Took the 5.0.0.230 plunge (Full)

Greetings,

I just took the 5.0.0.230 plunge (the full version), and I have a couple questions:

1. SmrtGuard: It doesn't seem to work like it did previously. Specifically, it doesn't go full screen nor does the touch seem to work. Any users running SmrtGuard? It should be noted that I can get it to "function" as I restored my contact list. But it was a royal pain trying to waddle through it. Any ideas?

2. vyMail: When I installed vyMail, and rebooted my phone I got some nasty error messages, and then the internet wouldn't work although calls would work. Is vyMail not compatible with 5.0.0.230?

Not sure but I will ask around and see if anyone knows of issues with those two apps on .230.

I know for a fact that vymail does not work. Youmail has its own program and it does. So go to their website with the BB browser and download it. It works well.

As for smartguard. I wish I knew.

Yeah, I installed Youmail earlier today- although I prefer vyMail better. But, like you say it does work and gives me a workaround until the time being. Heck, I might even grow to really like Youmail... ;-) *I did send a email to JoeKrill, and hopefully he will respond soon.

Also, on another note I have contacted SmrtGuard support but I don't expect any replies since it's a weekend. I really like that app though... hehe... Thanks for the reply.

I also took the plunge to 5.0.0.230. I ran a speedtest, and here are my results. Is this a common speed, as I am a newb?


Sorry, I didn't realize I was on a 9530 forum. I meant to go to Tour.

Now that I think about it. I might have read that SmrtGuard doesn't work.

I fixed SmrtGuard 1.99, I fixed it!!!

Straight from SmrtGuard's support:

1. Uninstall the application

2. Install the application

3. Re-install the application

These steps have been able to resolve the issue.

Glad I was wrong lol.

To be honest, I didn't think it was going to work but evidently ppl were having problems with 4.7.0.148 too- although I didn't have that problem until I upgraded to 5.0.0.230. So, at any rate I tried it, and whola, it worked! Now it is back to functioning like it was previously ;-) Who would've thought doing multiple installs would take care of it??

Am sorry to intervene(spell check) but VVM does work for the 9530 on .230...I use it my self since d/l .230 the 1st day. Not sure abt other devices but it definitely works for .230 on the 9530

Hi there Prince Jah,

I think you misread my original post. I was referring to "VyMail" a different third-party application (not coded by Youmail) that does not work in 230. But, we are all in agreement that Youmail's Visual Voice Mail does indeed work.

All's well. Thanks for chiming in. That's the one thing about forums is that sometimes we miss things we wouldn't miss in oral conversations.

Hopefully I will hear back from Joe Krill soon (the writer of VyMail). I am going to keep my fingers crossed.
