    need help w/.230 install NOW!!!

    :aargh4: See that? That is me an hour ago, they dont have a "smiley" on here that could quite express the way i am feeling right now.. I have tried and tried to get this OS on my phone for about 3hrs now with no success!!!

    Needless to say im stressin out, my problem is that I dont see the new OS update in the app loader!!!!!! All that is in there is my applications NOT MY NEW OS and that little problem has driven me to levels of insanity I cant even describe!!

    If you can help me get .230 running on my phone you would deff turn around my day!!

    P.S. sorry for the hostility im normally not like this...lol

    wipe ur device using jl comander or bbsak and then go throguh app loader

    Okay...Just saw how important this is for you so I will jump right in.

    Let me ask you this.
    When you open Desktop Manger, In the upper right hand corner there should be a help tab.
    If you select this help tab you should see a drop down window appear.
    Select About Blackberry Desktop Manager. Then select the Tab at the right that right that says Device Software. Tell me what it says for that Device software.

    I had a difficult time getting .230 also, but i did succeed and I would be happy to share my way if it would help.... what have you done so far?

    there are three things in there:


    • blackberry internal apps for RIM v5.0.0.191
    • v5.0.0.191
    • v5.0.0.230

    i have downloaded the full exe file .230 and deleted the vendor file..

    are all my problems just because i have not wiped the device? i thought that step was optional?

    I didn't use DM for this install... I went straight to the apploader in the folder. Took multiple tries to get an install that was problem free...

    No your problems are because you have one to many OS's installed on your PC.

    Plus the fact that you have RIM's internal tools installed as well.

    So the first thing we need to do is open up add/remove programs from your PC.
    Once your PC populates the current software, we will need to look for the Blackberry software.
    It should be listed in alphabetical order.

    Control panel>>Add/Remove Programs

    It is optional but when this happens to me I wipe the device using jl and then go to the apploader and the os update appears. Its been a fix for the times this has happened to me

    We need to remove the RIM Internal Tools and the 5.0.0.191 OS.

    Remove these two pieces of software then I would suggest rebooting your PC.

    After that has finished, let's verify that Desktop Manager is only showing 1 OS installed on your PC.

    Follow the same procedure as before with looking in the help tab.
    Once you are finished let me know then we can try installing .230 onto your device.

    Just be sure you do not delete Desktop Manager off of your PC. :fing02:

    Just wanted to point out (since you have two 5.0 OS on your PC) that in control panel each they both will be listed as "Blackberry Device Software v5.0.0 for the ...."

    To see the full version number so that you know which 5.0.0 to delete, click on "Click here for support information" (on the left directly under the program name).

    ok so i had 2 OS in my add/remove list so i deleted one and also deleted RIM internal tools but when i opened up the loader.exe it still showed no v5.0.0.230 update to be installed on the device..

    Another thing I just noticed was that Quincy is from the .191 OS. So if you already had that .191 on your phone I would definitely wipe first.

    edit: Quincy = RIM internal tools
