    .109 Hybrid

This will only work with the Storm 9530.

If you have not done so yet you need to download two operating softwares. You need the 4.7.0.103 beta OS for the 9530 and you need to download 4.7.0.109 beta OS for the 9500.

Once you have them downloaded you need to double click the icon(s) to install them to your computer.

Once both are installed you need to navigate to the following directory on your PC. :

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9530-v4.7.0.103_P4.0.0.131

There you will see a folder called "java". Rename this folder (right click folder>rename) to "java103"

Go back one directory and you will see the folder for .109.

    9500-v4.7.0.109_

go in there you will see a folder called "java". You need to copy that folder (right click folder> copy).

Once again...go back one directory and back into your 9530-v4.7.0.103 folder and paste the folder you just copied. You will now have three folders.. CDMA, java, java103. If you see those three folders now, you are doing everything correctly.

You now need to delete 4.7.0.109 from your computer. To do so, go to your control panel and add/remove programs. Locate the Blackberry Device Software v4.7.0.109 for the 9500.

once this is uninstalled go to the following directory

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

Plug your phone in. If desktop manager opens up, close it.

In the AppLoader folder you will see a file called "Loader". double click that file.

This will prompt apploader. From there you want to hit next, then next and allow it to do a back up and restore afterwards then click next.

Let your phone upgrade and you are done!!! You can make sure everything went normal and loaded by going to your About page under option. Should show you are running the .109 OS.

    Hi there...

Thanks for this excellent job of yours!!!
Just got a Storm 9500: how can I upgrade it efficiently, up to .109 for instance?
Impatient to read your comments about that... Thank you again!

You will see a huge improvement when you upgrade to the .109 for you 9500. The OS that comes 'stock' with the Storms are just horrible. In fact you will see an improvement with ANY OS you upgrade to. .109 is the latest OS for your 9500. I have not heard really anything bad about it in regards to the 9500. I know .106 was a huge success too. Its all about personal preference.

I'd greatly appreciate it BBcrackman. I'm not wanting to do any cutting and pasting of files if I can avoid it, although I'm considering it. I've been on 109 for almost a week, and it's time to try something else.

Im also working on making OTA for the leaked OS. I have two programs right now, trying to get the third one from a friend so I can do this.

Sorry to be so noobish, but I'm a bit confused on this hybrid business... The instructions on the top of this page indicate that you take the 4.7.0.109 beta OS for the 9500 and the 4.7.0.103 for the 9530, and do a "mash up" of the Java files. Why not just take bits and pieces of both 9530 OS's... At one point, I know 109 wasn't available for 9530's but now it is. Am I missing something?

Also, bbcrackman, once you post the Hybrid, can you include a ReadMe that describes what bits you used from each OS?

Nope your right. People made this "hybrid" because when .109 leaked first, it was only for the 9500. This hybrid made it work on the 9530.

But the point of making a Hybrid out of two 9530 OS's is to take different pieces of each OS to try to make the Hybrid better, correct? So what's the consensus on which to make? Parts of 103 into the 109 OS?

I'm loving the lack of keyboard lag in 109 (I came from .99 and it was bad), but my memory leaks are pretty bad. I never tried 103, but I hear its good.

You could do that, you could also use the CDMA file out of .103 and paste it into .109 for the 9530. Your choice of course.

I did not state what files I used. Just how to use the bundle.

Well, to me, I think the best 'bundle' I have done was. .86MMS COD / .90 CDMA file / .106 or .109 Java Files.

I think that was a solid hyrbid!! I loved it!
