Thread: Strange SMS issue with .230!!!

need some advice,
I wiped my phone 5 times,loaded .230, everything went fine. As soon as my phone booted up, I manually added all my contacts back on. When I went to contacts,highlight a contact,hit bb button,select sms, everything works(conv. box pops up).But when I do a batt. pull, after my phone reboots,I repeat the same process and I can only sms certain contacts. Conv. Box only pops up on certain contacts. So, I do another batt. pull, repeat process,and now I cant sms any of my contacts.Even when I go into sms/mms,insert a contact,hit ok,nothing happens,so I hit ok again and then it brings up conv.box but adds the contact twice. Any help with this, the only way to get sms to work properly is to downgrade back to 5.0.140 or 4.7.167. I cant figure out whats going wrong,and its driving me nuts.:Eyecrazy:

ok new findings with this issue. Using JL Cmnder I wiped, then did reset to factory,and then wiped 5 more times. Reloaded .230 with DM, let it bootup,manually entered all my contacts,tested sms, no issues. Then installed slacker so I could delete it and reboot my phone,after second reboot no sms issues yet. I still havent done an actual batt. pull, kinda scared too!!! ... I hope I fixed it...

no, just stock pre. zen. I found a temp. workaround for this sms issue. I have to go to security, then wipe contacts, then let it reboot. After the reboot, I have to manually add all my contacts back, but then sms works fully again. This workaround still sucks to have to do, but hey it works. I'm tryn to build a hybrid with all .230 files except the address book files(cods) and sms & sms compose(cods), I'm gonna try putting the .167 cods for those in and see how it goes. But any suggestions are truly appreciated. Thanks guys...

Honestly this doesn't make sense. The cod files do not effect anyone else and I don't see why they would effect you. We are all using the same ones.
Something is wrong with your install file. Or your hardware.

There is no other answer. I would uninstall all RIM device software. Then reinstall it. Then wipe and reload on your phone.

You must have a corrupt install on your computer putting a corrupt install on your phone. Or your hardware is bad. Honestly I am more prone to blame your hardware at this point due to the changes at batt pull. It seems your device memory is not functioning properly. But it is worth trying software fixes first.

I have deleted all rim software and loaded fresh software. Wiped my phone, loaded fresh OS, but still no luck.I would like to take it to Verizon for replacement, but then I would have to load .148 on it and SMS works fine. Even after batt. Pulls, kinda screwed
