Thread: 5.0.0.230 Question

Hello everyone .

I am new to these site , this site is excellent thank you so much , everything that i have needed is right here even guides and tutorials with pics awesome.

Just one quick question i recently updated my storm to 5.0.0.230 but i have seem to downloaded from another site bbhybrids.net although the link was posted on this forum i can seem to find it to show you , i did everything according to the tutorial and i am loving my storm, it runs faster smoother, better than ever .

The question is are there any differences between my update and the noinfo1 file just so i can know , and be informed so next time will know what to do better.

First off welcome to and glad to hear you like it

now in regards to .230 it's very hard to tell with this one unforunetly because it is a hybrid.
If you try this

options > applications > core > bbmenu button > modules - a list will pool and it should show you some files from .230 and maybe .191

Are you having any issues with the build because everyone has made some updates since it released.

The difference from what I understand is the one from BBHybrids contains 230 tour files along with 230 storm files.

NoInfo1 is it is all Storm files all are 230 except for 29 which are from 191.

noinfo1 is the latest version of the .230 "hybrid" by bbcrackman. It is the most "pure" 9530 version of .230, as it uses ALL Storm files, and not a bunch of files from the 9630 Tour version of .230.

Do note, there are still a FEW .191 files in noinfo1 (29, IIRC) however they are for non-crucial parts of the OS.

If you want the most "up-to-date" .230 OS that is comprised of pure 9530 files, you want noinfo1; however in day to day use I noticed absolutely no operational differences (I ran each version for awhile to check)

Ok i now understand what you are saying , everything runs smooth i haven't had any reboots and i think that everything absolutely everything runs perfectly no bugs all apps are working and most important the speed of the phone is amazing.

Maybe thats the reason i have so many ringtones and notifiers mostly repeated


So there is no problem if i stay with this version right , i mean until a new OS comes LOL , im starting to get the point of these updates.

I know there is got to be a way for this maybe you can point me in the right direction.

When i did the update i lost BBM i was using 5.0 its ok no problem we will get it eventually , but now that i have 4.7 and if i want to use the noinfo1 file , can i do something to keep my BBM contacts maybe like a backup but i am afraid of adding them again they are allmost 100.

Welcome to ! There isn't a QP fix unfortunately. As for VAD, if you install .140 and copy the VAD files from the .140 java to the .230 hybrid java is should fix it.

To save a little time, you dont have to install 140 and copy the vad files. I actually shrunk them out to save space. They are located in the java folder in the 230 Hybrid, once installed to the PC go to C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/Shared/Loader Files and go into the 191 os/the java folder/removed files folder and lt click on the first vad file, hold the shift key and click on the last vad file, rt click and cut, exit out of the removed file folder and rt click and paste into the java folder.

You may be able to use shrink a os to just put it back if you like. But they are there and they are 5.0.0.230 cod files.

Is there a way to put the VAD cod file back with SSAK?

Not with BBSAK. But there is with Shrink-A-OS.
