Thread: USB connection causes REBOOT on .230H

OK so I finally took the leap to 5.0... I did everything by the book... uninstall previouus, install .191, install .230 over it , back up/wipe/ load...

Now i cant get any USB connection to my PC. If i plug/ unplug/plug/ unplug... over n over eventually i get the auto play to pop up ... DM recognizes, and BAM instant phone reboot!
Now the kicker is.. i goto My Computer while plugged in, and it shows the 2 blackberry "removable" drives... but they're black (empty).
DM, and BBSak Both will not connect.... via USB...
Successfully connected to DM though via BlueTooth, and was able to transfer contacts etc...

Any ideas on why my USB went to shit???
(fyi, downloading the latest USB drivers from RIM.. Install says DM is newer than what im installing)

EDIT: attempting Uninstalll/ reinstall of DM ...

Have not heard of this Drukan? Let me know how the reinstall of DM goes. I will see what I can find in the mean time

I have noticed that you do get two drives under USB, one the phone and one the memory card, this happens when you have the phone set to enable mass storage when connected to computer! Have you checked this setting? It is in options\memory!

OK so i reinstalled DM...

When it goes to install USB drivers, it installs all but "blackberry SmartPhone" when it gets to this one it says "failed". Yet when i goto my Device Manager, it shows it there, and says that the driver for it is installed. "update driver" returns with the device driver installed is up to date. SO this seems to be the issue... now how to FIX it...

EDIT: another unplug/plugin... and it attempted to install driver... a second driver popped up and installed, as phone rebooted. the other failed as "device unplugged"

Also getting a MSG sayin that "the USB charging current is not sufficient"

THIS REALLY BLOWS.... I CANT WIPE IT AND GO BACK TO .151 if i CANT CONNECT TO MY PC !!!!!!!!!!!

I did get the error about USB charging current, try this, plug it into your wall charger and see what happens, when I did, I got the error so I kept pluging it in then unplugging it and after a few times it started charging normaly. try that and if it can charge normaly maybe then it will sync again!

It charges fine with wall charger... still no luck via usb... ive unplugged/plugged.. probably 50 times by now... but thanx ...

That is wierd...I have not had that issue as of yet.

Maybe wiping the phone and trying again as much as it is a bummer to do.

Thats weird! Have you tried to force load .151 on there, by taking out the battery then flashing through the loader?
Dont forget to put the battery back in before it goes to the first "waiting for device initilization"

I would gladly reload, force reload, wipe or even swap a few cods... but it will NOT connect to my PC via USB AT ALL!!!!

Even with the battery out? Ouch man that sucks! I assume you have switched USB inputs on your computer and checked to see if it is the PC not the phone! Maybe a factory wipe through options!
Sorry man I know its frusterating, just trying to help out!

OK well i think ya did help me out... something i never thought to try was take the battery out and plug it in ...

So i tried doin one more thing... AND FUCK IF I KNOW WHY but it WORKED....

Ive rebooted my PC twice over the driver install deal.... well this time i rebooted the PC and bfore it botted back up put the phone in the cradle with the battery out.. as soon as it booted it installed like 4 more blackberry/ Rim drivers...
Its charging from USB now.. checkin to see if i can get DM or BBsak to connect...

DOOD... U FKn ROCK!!!

Like i said i dont know WHY OR HOW that made a diff... but it sure as hell did ... BBsak and DM connect and its charging via USB... !!!

So... with that working... maybe ill give it a day n see if the phone side of .230 works out for me... Thanx for the random idea!!!

WELP, ALL IS NOT WELL .... I realized that somewhere in the reboot my radio was turned off... i unplugged my phone... turned the radio back on ... plugged it back in ... and ... NOTHING !!! Back to no connection....

BUT, I have narrowed it down to IT IS 230... I just used the same PC same cable same usb port and plugged in my brothers storm still running crackmans v6 i think (132) and drivers installed everything connects!

SO is there something i could change out in the java files that deals with usb connections? Im sure i can get it to reconnect again using the previous method.. but i need this to be fixed...???

Though on the Plus side ive been running it all day and i love the OS... it runs great... all my previous issues are gone and i have the sms and flick bonuses!! so hopefully i can work this out ...

drukan are you running a vista 64 bit with 5.0 DM?

Negative... Vista 32 , DM 5 (latest ver.)

Do you think reverting back to DM 4.7 could help? I just swapped my phone with his again ... his connects fine... i plug mine in and get nothing.

I would try it, it has caused numerous problems with vista 64 cant hurt to try and see if it fixes it. I had no luck with DM 5.0 i had to go back to 4.7

DM 4.7 gives same results... USB charging warning, and no connectivity.:irked:
