Thread: Battery life with .230

Hey everyone

I recently put .230 on my storm 9530 and everyone is saying how great the battery life is. I am having huge problems then my battery does not last more then 3 hrs on a full charge. I know that its not the battery because on other earlier os my battery was fine. Could anyone possibly shed some light on this for me. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I wiped the blackberry with BBSAK then installed a fresh .230 then loaded my contacts....Please help

Are you running in 3rd party apps that are running in the background?

So you have the OS and just your contacts installed and no 3rd party apps?

That is very strange? Are you sure the battery is charging correctly? When did you load 230 on?

The install that you have does it have the RIM Tools added to it?

It loads an app on your phone calls quincy and that could be running in the BG and killing your battery

Check your Add/Remove on your PC and check for Internal Tools... If it is listed remove it then reload your OS

Well I am gonna wipe and do a fresh install again and remove quincy and hopefully that solves me issue Thanks for your help

Did you do the three battery pulls after loading? That happened to me recently after loading a new OS. Other wise I would wipe and reinstall

Just wanted to give everyone an update. I removed the quincy tools and did a fresh installation of .230 on my phone and low and behold the battery is holding great now. I just want to thank everyone here who helped me with this dilemma BBOS is bar none the best site for blackberry info. Phone charged 100% text and phone calls throughout the day 9 hrs later phone is at 75% woohoo

Hello to everyone im kinda new to all of this , i just installed the 5.0.0.230 but forgot to remove the Quincy/Internal , i managed to remove them with the app called Maxmem , i dont know how is my battery life cause i just updated today , what do you recomend me to do??? , do a fresh install without the quincy??? , just to know aproximatedly how much does your battery lasts???.

Best thing to do would be to remove the RIM internal tools from your computer, then wipe and reload your phone.

I was having the same problem, my battery wouldn't last more than 3-4hrs. Did the MaxMem app, and I had it unplugged for 10+hrs with 70% left.

Well, .230 and 5.0 in general has certainly lowered my battery life over .151. Even so, it's still good enough to make it through a solid day's use.

I have noticed that the battery life of the 230 is not nearly as exceptional as the radio for the 151. The 230 also has a lot more moving parts. I hear the latest 5.0 version that has not been released addresses this issue along with memory usage.
