    Official 113 this Monday?

So this is what I was able to get off email communication with a RIM employee... The most solid information to date released right here on BBOS

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting BlackBerry Application Development Support.
In response to your recent email regarding the official OS release, I would be happy to assist you. We are aware of the fact that there has been a leak of a beta version of the 113 OS. The version that someone has made available to the public, is an internal beta version of the product that has not been approved for external release. Thus, there is a potential for known bugs within this version. We are aware of one major source of the software's availability, but if you would like to share where you obtained it from we would appreciate the information . The OS is meant to be release Monday april 6th 2009. As I informed you, many bugs pertain to the leaked OS and will be resolved in the final production to be released this Monday. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.
    Sincerely,

I can't imagine it would be 113 then...if they are saying that it has bugs, which it does, and they will release official on monday, then it will be a different build.

If this is true that is the way the releases work.

If 113 is used to make changes then it will be a different build number.

I know, I thought the same thing and replied to him, but havent gotten a response.
But from what I understand...the one that was leaked had bugs and the official actually remedies them.
Im even surprised the guy actually told me all that.

    I dont know

Isnt the leak the same as the official ( when it goes official ) VZW doesnt change anything in the OS , so if he is saying there are known bugs in .113 maybe they are going with a di\fferent version ?

I have a tough time believing this because RIM does not release software VZW does. So the fact that he says RIM will be releasing it on 4/6 doesn't make any sense. For example, 4.5 has been out for a long time now but VZW still does not offer or support it. So until I see it posted I ain't buying it.

I think he more interested in finding out the source of the leak than providing useful info. History has mandated that every leak that has gone official are identical. Since RIM is now testing in .18X tell me why would they be going back and make tweaks to an OS 70 versions again. Just tell me when the check has cleared and I'll believe it.

Hmm. Very interesting news. We will just have to wait and see. I just dont think the number will be .113 if the bugs were ironed out.

I highly doubt this is true really. When you talk to a verizon customer service, if youre lucky to get one that speaks English and knows what a Blackberry is, then they dont really know shit about what they are talkign about. You ask a question, they type it into a computer and then they go from there.

They would have to change the platform number.

You would almost think you would have to try it out especially with that long list that was typed up (especially if it is a different platform number).... all the time we all have spent loading and unloadind and reloading os' it would only take an hour or less to put 114V3 back on it if it didnt live up to any better performance. Personally i'm pretty happy with the hybrid except for the speed of the camera still slow on mine like 2-3 secs.

hahah. That was hilarious! Its how it really is though!! They dont know anything!!! The funny part is...Im not even lying about this. Their call center is like 10 minutes from me. And down the street from my work. I've thought about walking in to see who they really are but I think they keep their sweatshop underground.

thats my feeling as well. im very happy with v3 of the hybrid and was not happy enough with .113 to reinstall it once it is official. its starting to be frustrating to have to change os so often just to be happy with a cell phone, but at the same time i love installing a new os and playing around with it. damn catch 22's.

Agree about VZW customer service and all the related humor. They are horribad but the OP indicated the service rep was from RIM not VZW.

    ... just saying

Hell, I'd tell'em the development team at BlackberryOS.com made it, and the bugs are fixed. RIM would crash the server...

But, on a serious note, I got frustrated with Sprint (when I had them a while back), and the problem was that I kept getting someone who spoke 5 words of English. It got so bad that I asked where the heck their call center was located, and I was told that I was talking to someone in Haiderabad, India. I hung up, and kept calling until I reached an English speaking person. I reached a call center in Toronto, which is perfectly fine by me, at least there is no Language barrier. I asked to be escalated to the highest person available, and after explaining to them what I just went through, the young lady gave me a tip. She told me that this is NOT common knowledge, but you are permitted to ask to be transferred to an American Call center. This will put you in touch with someone in either the US or Canada, and they can NOT refuse that request. Just thought I'd share that tidbit of info.
