9530 5.0.0.230 Findings and Fixes Discussion thread #3

I have seen this a few times myself. What I did to fix it was rotate my phone and click the blackberry button to show or hide the keyboard. I'm not sure why that made a difference but for me it worked. Give it a go and see if that does it for you.

Ok so I am new to this site.....coming from another well known site....I've asked this question over there several times but can't seem to get an answer so I'm hoping someone here can help.....I can not send sms on 230.....if someone sends me a text I can reply to it but when I open a new text...it shows the person's name and a white screen....no where to type....when I try thru Beyond 160 it says it's sent but it doesn't show in my sms folder and the person I sent it to doesn't receive it.....I have never had this problem with any O.S/Hybrid I 've used....any help would be greatly appreciated....I love 230 but I need to text......Thanks

I honestly think that anyone who installs a 5.0 OS should not restore their backup right away. I think the backup is causing a lot of little problems. It may be best to incrementally restore using the advanced tool, and only restore the necessary databases. Here's my reason for saying this. You remember when 4.5 came out and there were issues right? I think it's the same thing. It's a major version change, and a lot of settings are different.. So the settings in a backup could easily conflict with the new OS.

^ I agree. The only thing I have restored from my backups is contacts. I don't really want to restore anything else from 4.7 for that very reason.

yes, that might be my problem, i can't modify or add contacts and don't feel like re-wiping.

NON WORKING APPS:

vLingo Plus 3.1 (does not complete setup 4.7 - 'search concert tickets' phone does record voice command.
BBM 5.0: doesn't install at all
BBM 4.7: works but you can't edit (no pic ID)
QuickPull Pro: freezes when RESET
BB Voice Note recorder: records but doesn't play back
FACEBOOK
YAHOO MESSENGER
BLACKBERRY APP WORLD

Everything else is working fine, looking good, and being like a real phone...

There's got to be some weather app that works on .230.
I've tried:
BerryWeather
BBWeather
Weather Eye

No luck.

Anyone else have any success getting the home screen icon to update?

I loaded berry weather back when I was running 4.7 on my storm then I loaded 230 on to my desktop only -over 191 that was loaded earlier then I run desktop manager to install 230 ,after boot up my berryweather works as good as it did on 4.7. Or you can just try to reinstall berryweather again to see if that fixes it before taking above steps.

Welcome to BBOS! Sorry you are having problems. The threaded SMS is one of the neat gotta have things about .191 and .230. Under options there is a heading titled SMS Text. Have you made those settings? If yes I would suggest reloading a clean .191 then .230 on top. Let us know if that doesn't work.

Thanks for all the input.....sorry if I can off smug.....it wasn't intended that way....I guess I just get frustrated cause I know this is something that can be fixed and I haven't had any luck as of yet......I will keep at it till it works......this is an awesome build and I want it....lol Thanks again to all those that helped.

if i read correctly(somewhere) there is the 230 version that you can just "update" to?
I have been on and off here all day and did the 191 w/ a I'm not even sure what now. Anyway i have flick scrolling and such but isn't there a new version where the camera DOES work?

I think i can help on the bt issue after i reloaded and did 3 batt pulls using the dm advanced options in restore i restored my bt then restored my backup so far all my bt devices work i have new jb plantronics and mot st bt headset trying the mot now

I did a WIPE and the OS 5.0.0.230 is working fine with all APPS!! the only ones that don't work is the BB apps (facebook, yahoo messenger, bb apps center, BB appworld)

Well finally after a few days, I was able to get BBM 4.7 on my phone with .230. Now I am completely satisfied. This is a great OS. Once all of the 3rd party apps come on board. My S1 will be were it is suppose to be. Thanks BBC.

i'm having a weird issue with my holster. When the phone is the holster and i pull it out the phone is dark and wont start up again for like 30 secs. not a restart but dark then boom my lock screen comes up. any idea of what files control the sleep function? Maybe a fix would be to go with the 5.0 files from a early build that did have that issue.I should add that the issue only happens when i keep the phone in the holster for over ten minutes.
