u used loader.exe from the c>programfiles>commonfiles>RIM>apploader>loader.ex e location right?

could there be a a preset setting on the phone already that is preventing it from beign accessible ie passwords?

I am no expert, but I do not believe you have to delete anything from the loader folder when trying to get rid of rim tools. You may have deleted something that it needs to recognize the new os on your pc. Just a thought. You may want to reinstall to your pc and then just remove rim tools through control panel.

I tried that and it still doesn't work.

Took the plunge...from first look...definitely the best os i have ever seen...so gorgeous.

First time poster here. I have been going through the process,

Download .191, install.
Download Desktop Manager 5, install.
Delete RIM Tools.
Run the .230 installer, pointing to correct dir.
Backup Blackberry.

I then Ran apploader.exe directly, and it is currently in progress of "wait for device initialization" and it was almost complete when I received an error of "Cannot connect to device" and it restarts so "Restore device data" never gets started.

However my phone is actually up and running currently and it is v5.0.0.230 (Platform 4.2.0.61)

Now, after reading through this thread I did not delete any vendor.xml file and am a little bit nervous as to what this is going to do. Am I going to be running into major problems down the road? And is the fact that the apploader never fully completed going to cause me headaches down the road as well?

Normally you can not install an OS without deleting the vendor file. I've heard you need to remove that file so your carrier specific pieces restore from the back up. I could be wrong but you may want to re-install and delete your vendor file.

Ok.. Even if the OS is installed and Phone/Internet is working you would recommend this?

Does anyone know what this mean? Invalid Command parameters "Usage Desktop Manager-record<destination directory for recorded settings>" -its what I keep getting when I try and download .230 and I have deleted QUINCY/TOOLS

I've searched and searched for this answer. I just installed OS 5.0.0.230 and BBM is nowhere to be found on the phone. Is it possible to get a version of BBM onto a Storm using os .230?
