Thread: Please help me load a new OS

Okay, I have a Storm 9530 with the original .75 OS. I'm new to all this and all the threads I look at are hard to follow. So basically I'm looking for a thread with step by step directions on what to do.

A few questions:

1. Do I need to delete the original OS before starting?
2. Am I going to lose pictures and Contacts? (I have 1200 pics and 560 contacts) I don't really don't want to get them all again
3. Can this be done using Windows Vista?

So if anyone wants to help me accomplish this I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm still on the original OS so the directions would have to be from start to finish. Thanks all,

Mike...When you download the Hybrid v3 to your computer, there is a "READ ME" file that comes with it. Just print it out and it will give you directions for the install. First instructions are if you alrady are running the v2 Hybrid, and the second is for a new installation.

For the pics, they are stored on the mem card so no. the contacts, DM or Loader either one make a backup before install and then load it , usually your settings to.
you can also backup your pics by connecting as Mass storage mode when you connect your BB and it shows up like a flash drive.and copy over to your comp


I dont feel a non advanced user should use a hybrid. I reccomend v.113 or .109. the advantage of hybrid though is your MMS pictures kind of work and performance is slightly better. but going from .75 to .113 would be a HUGE improvment, hell any os version for that matter.

Install the OS you want to try to your computer

Yes it can be done using vista if your on a laptop or running low power make sure to turn on performance power option on before installing, other than that use Loader.exe (try searching for it, ) the icon looks like a phone, if you cant find it you can always use Desktop manager to update. after you install the update using either method, change to whatever theme u use if not already there and do a batt pull and there you go.

other than that, performance is VERy increased using default theme with any OS version.

Once you plug in your phone, and open eiither loader.exe or DM , your good to go. you shouldnt lose ANY info, as it makes backups automatically. Also unless you do a full wipe you shouldnt have to restore anything.

EDIT: also, no updates should require any other versions, so just pick the one you want and install. Like i said if .113 is great and i liked .109 but if you want to try a hybrid, its not that hard to do. theres other threads with step by step instructions on how to install a hybrid.

Normal install is basically self explanitory, install to computer plug in phone and go , I wouldnt reccomend a wipe in this case

I think its because a lot of people really like the Hybrid.
And to be honest, its not that hard to do. the difference is, a copy/paste compared to the 113 or 109

I am a Newby too, where do I get the .113 or whatever, I have the original OS that came on my phone?
