Thread: Gabriel's BETA Hybrid: V4.0.Xb for 9500 ... now any eager 9500 user can test!!!

This is for hybrid lovers who have been very eagerly waiting for 5.0 based hybrids...
Please note that this is a BETA version and requires lots of testing and bug fixing...

Download Gabriel's BETA hybrid V4.0.6b for 9500

Download Gabriel's BETA hybrid V4.0.4b for 9500

Download Gabriel's BETA hybrid V4.0.2b for 9500

Please note that I have included the latest version of Shrink-A-OS with this hybrid in the same folder.

PLEASE INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK. I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR MISHAPS OR BRICKING OF PHONES.

Contains:

5.0 based hybrid containing a mixture of 5.0 os files


Installation instructions:

Please follow the steps below:

- Once downloaded double click to run the installer
- Click the next button to continue install
- It will ask you if you want to create the destination directory click NO
- Click the browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files>and select your current OS folder
- Once selected click next to load the hybrid
- Once finished click next and then use apploader to install on your phone
- After installation use Desktop Manager to restore the file Flick_Scrolling_Backup.ipd to enable flick scrolling (not required for 4.0.6b and above)

NOTE:
- No need to install any base OS prior to hybrid installation
- Wiping device before installation is strongly suggested
- No 3rd party themes supported

Sorry Gab,I don't know what went wrong:wiped device with BBASK,and loaded the hybrid(shrink before),said it was successful, but the berry kept rebooting and rebooting.
First I loaded it over your previous hybrid and second time over 5.0.140.
Any way both times was the same rebooting for ever.
Maybe you can give me some more instructions and it will work.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your .141, then running the Hybrid again.

try replacing the default radio with the 5.0.0.140 radio... supplied with the hybrid... (you can find it in the CDMA folder)

If I installed over 5.0.140 I already have the 140 radio,or not?I installed over this one the second time.

Uninstalled all from the PC, wiped clean OS folder and installed 5.0.140. Then the hybrid over it. Still reboot and reboot....
Sorry but I don't get what more should I have done. I'm a newbie so please give me step by step indications.
I speak good English, so I'll understand it.

this is no good to me either. Installed it.when it is restarting halfway through the process it keep rebooting
.............. so could not get it to work at all. so going back to .140

Just Loaded It

Loading was sucessful let me check all the applicatio and will post my finding in few minutes

yahoo
hotmail
bbm 5
facebook
myspace

downloaded and installed sucessfully. it is now restarting halfway through the bar. lets see. seems working ok. let you know the findings later. going to bed now. worked last night

It works well,but no instant messages and a little problem with the dial pad; for example if you dial your carrier no. and then you want to select some options with a number you have to double click the number very fast in order to do the selection.
I had no random reboots, all sounds work OK,mail and sms OK.You can flick scroll down through the mail but you have to use the up arrow in order to return to the beginning.Same in the call logs.

Too good web browser
Only thing I miss majorly are the messengers
I even tried beejive and im but both not working
Tried to set compatibility as well as permissions but to no avail
Still I like this hybrid a lot
Found some problem with playing of 3gp files sent by a friend
Hope Gabriel would find someway to rob the messengers
Btw have been running for nearly 12 hours no problem

24 hours and no problem; Good memory. steady at 51.5.

seems like there's a new leak for 9530... 5.0.0.230... no 9500 version yet...
i'd be out for a week or so... hope to get back with fixes after i get back...
