Thread: BBM5 has disappeared, help?

so i use bbm quite a bit. i noticed my icon for it had disappeared, and that the one contact that i created a shortcut to was still there. i could still access bbm from the app switcher so i didnt panic, yet.

i figure a battery pull will fix the issue, wrong. now all of the app has disappeared, even the contact that was present before. in the applications list, bbm5 is still listed. i have .151 installed as the base and used lyricidal b6v10. i have never had this issue with previous builds from lyric. thanks in advance!

Do you have bbm 4.7 installed on your phone? Here is the link for bbm5 BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 OTAs let me know any questions or fixes that you may have.

im using 5, included in the hybrid os. should i try to install over it? will i lose my contacts in bbm?

I would try installing it and then performing a battery pull. If you are using bbm five then it will wirelessly have backed up your contacts and will reload them. Did you set up an email with blackberry?

i have a blackberry email account, but my gmail account is set as my default email as well as the default email in BBM5

Make sure you back up your phone through DM. Install BBM5. Restore through DM and then wirelessly connect through bbm5. It may take a while, but your contacts will come back. I have been through the same scenario and the contacts always come back to play.

thanks for your help and the link. i reinstalled using the OTA link, its also a newer version than what is included in the hybrid. after reinstalling it gave the message to reboot the phone. i never do that method, i prefer a battery pull. before i could do so the icon had already came back so i decided to go ahead and click (call me too impatient). accepted the eula and asked for my name as i want it to appear. hit next and took a couple of minutes to get everything back automatically. i must have overlooked this feature before, really sweet action! it automatically used my gmail account as well. worked like a charm, battery pull to be safe.

I'm glad you got your fix!

I just installed 5.0.0.230 and I am having the same issue. If I install 4.7 it shows up, if I install BBM5 , no icon appears. It's listed in my applications as 5.0.0.8 but i can't access it. Is anyone else having this issue? :irked:

BBM 5.0.0.8 is not compatible with .230

So I guess I need to stick to 4.7? Oh well, I'll run 230 for a couple of days and see if it's worth it.
