Orio started asking some good questions, like why the platform number showed a 140 radio instead of the 191 radio, and that got me to thinking. I checked the CDMA folder from last night's instal, and, sure as shootin', the radio was 14,004kb and dated 7/1/09 (i.e., the 140 radio). Somehow, and I have no idea how, the radio reverted back to 140. I was just too stupid to double check this.
Now, I did say initially that the flick was likely the result of the 191-to-140 downgrade (please see below), so that still appears to hold true. So, for those of you that have been going nuts trying to cram the 191 radio into this, I apologize. However, other than the lack of the 191 radio, this still appears to be a viable alternative to straight 191. I still like it and still plan to use it until something with 191 and a working camera comes out.

PREFACE: Thanks go out to British Turbo and paul at TBZ for their excellent thread on this. In all honesty, I think if you follow their install-and-downgrade plan, you will get the same result on the flick piece. Also, thanks go out to lyricidal for his awesome black tar junk. *SNIFF* He will always be my first. Finally, thanks go out to the fine folks here at BBOS for providing knowledge and support and tolerating my crap. And if you do not like my crap, flush it!
THIS IS NOT A "HYBRID" PER SE. THIS IS JUST SOME FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER I SEWED TOGETHER.
1. Install .191 and load to device. Really tricky thus far eh?
SKIP THIS STEP 1.5. Save the .191 radio (.sfi file in the CDMA folder) to your hard drive.
2. Delete .191 from your computer via add/remove programs AND manually from the Shared/Loader folder (some folks have been forgetting this part) and wipe your device (BBSAK; CrackUtil; whatevs). I did a a factory reset via BBSAK as well.
3. Install .140.
4a. Download, install and run lyricidal's 5.0 v001 clock fix and shrink .exe file. (This file is entitled "5.0-v001.exe".)
OR
4b. Fix the clock yourself via http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/9...-file-fix.html and run shrink (or don't run shrink; whatevs).

SKIP THIS STEP. 5. (Here is the money shot, ladies and germs): drag n drop the .191 sfi (remember step 1.5???) into the CDMA folder of your .140 installation.
6. Delete vendor.xml if you did not shrink and load via app loader.
THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. THIS IS SO EASY DR. LOU CAN DO IT. EVIDENTLY, IT IS ROCKET SCIENCE, AND DR. LOU CANNOT DO IT. LOL.
Okay, here are my preliminary results:
Flick: yes (smooth like 191). I am addicted to Twitter. #WIN
Threaded SMS: no. I do not SMS. I have BBM and Twitter. #WIN
MMS: no (i.e., the bug sending and receiving MMS messages persists like in 140 straight no chaser). People can send stuff via email. And I can still post to BBM or Twitter. #WIN
Tabbed browser: yes. I actually missed this now that I have it again. #WIN
BBM 5.0: yes. #EPICWIN
Speaker: loud.
Camera: works. #EPICWIN
Video camera: works. #EPICWIN
Device reset via QuickLaunch: works. #WIN
Audible alerts do not appear to work with custom themes. I use only vibrate or silent. #WINDIFFERENT
I have successfully run Orbital, MoodBerry and BeBerry themes on this mix.
As of this morning, I have had two random reboots on SocialScope (did I mention :hail: 0mie? :hail: 0mie!). I have not had any issues posting on UberTwitter.
I have successfully clicked "Now Playing" a couple of times without a reboot, but I think this is more luck than a 140 OS improvement.
To clarify:
A. I do not have a special hybrid to upload or test. It is all laid out above.
B. I am not holding out on anyone. I do not have some new file (or claim to have some new file that I never in fact had) that I am dangling like a piece of meat. (Only my brother from the other mother, jasonfyc, gets to dangle meat in front of me. LOVE YOU BRO!!!!!!) I do not play like that. Info and knowledge should be public and shared like open source code. Please see recent books on Emergence for an explanation on how we are all smarter together than the sum of our intelligence as individuals.
C. Your results may vary.
D. Far greater minds than I are better able to assist you.
