you guys are crazy with this stuff!!!! i got 5.0.0.999 from randy and i'm loving it. I have a new function where my phone turns into a getaway car if needed!!!!!!!!

You restore your BBM contacts through an advanced restore... Just go through and select the BBM and you will get all your contacts back! Including meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ee!:no:

Hey Lou, in your instructions you said you did a wipe and factory reset...wouldnt you do the reset first and Then wipe the phone?

I do not think it matters which way you do it--I have done it both ways (just ask jasonfyc!).

Ras, you have to wipe and reload checking the BBM 4.7 that shows up in the install list. Same to get IM apps working. After that just restore the blackberry messenger item from a backup. Hopefully you have a backup!

Curious to know if anyone tried eliminating the clock fix step and seeing what radio (platform) appeared after installing on the device.

I did it according to Lou's directions either way and by placing the .191 radio file in the CDMA folder I got a 200 error, which is indicative of an incompatible sfi file I believe. I use Vista x64 if that says anything, otherwise, I am out ideas as to why everyone who tried this was sucessful and Ras and I were not.

140. 191 does not seem to want to work (App Error 200).

Nah. It was a #FAIL in the end.

The interesting question for me is how in the hell the radio reverted back to 140 even after dragging and dropping the 191 radio into the CDMA. I suspect user error (i.e., me).

Did you ever get the 200 error Lou? Because when I thought I got it to work yesterday it was because after getting the 200 error I started over and forgot to add the .190 radio file in the cdma folder and everything worked and I thought I did everything the same.


Side note...140 is pissing me off with the scroll in the messages and sms and phone log...I cant even see my new messages!!

...its been fun but i think im going back to .151 v8.5...unless something newer has been tried and is suggested by anyone...I just got a random reboot during a text lol PISSED!

So I tried the Loubrid today. Here are my steps and my results:

Steps:
- Already had 191 loaded on my device
- Un-installed 191 from PC
- installed 140 to PC
- Un-installed internal apps
- Connected to DM 5.0 and was not prompted to up or downgrade
- Went into app loader, upgrade device software or whatever it is and downgraded
- downgrade successful, EA successful

(note no wipes)

Results:
- Lost YIM and pattern lock lite; they show installed in the apps list but there are no icons (not they're not just hidden)
- Messages app is jacked up. It's like it's trying to flick scroll but can't. Whatever e-mail I tap (not click) goes to the top of the screen. There is no old skool scrolling or flick scrolling. Other menus the flick scrolling works like 191.
- media player played a lot of WMV's that it would not in 191 and did not list previously played videos
- Tabbed browser - sweet
- 1XEV - yuk, but clickable to manage connections

The jacked up message selection thing was a deal breaker so I went back to 191. Got YIM and patttern lock back. All is good 'cept no camera. It was worth a shot but 140 is no 191...

Does this wreck still have the updated phone app?
I have .191 and the UI of the phone app is updated, and the green button responds a lot faster to call up the phone keypad. This is my favorite part of .191 and I can't go without it.

I believe this reverts back to the 140 UI for the phone.
