    lyricidal,
Quick question about Shrink-a-OS....I ran the program a week or so and it worked great, however I just realized I never deleted the "RemovedFiles" subdirectory that's sitting in my Java folder. Do I need to delete this to get the full benefit or can I leave it there for good?

    Thanks!

You can leave it there for good, as long as the .cod files are not in the Java folder itself they won't be installed.

Excellent. Thanks! Also, I ran the program hoping to get rid of the extra pics/backgrounds that are on the Storm. I clicked on the button to delete those, however when I "view photos" on the device, I can still see the pictures. I checked the Java folder to see if that big "...backgrounds" file is in there and I don't see it...does that mean it's gone? I'm just a little confused since I don't see the file but can still see the "pretty pics" (read memory hogs) on the phone.

I've had the same problem. The file gets deleted, but the pics are still there.
    For that, I recommend BBFileScout.
    If you don't know how:
    Download BBFileScout OTA,
    Open on your phone and:
click system, click samples, highlight the folder "pictures"
then click BB button and Delete 'pictures"
This will get rid of them (you can also get rid of the other sample images here aswell)

Thanks. I'll give BBFileScout a try.

One last thing I noticed...there's a file labeled "net_rim_font_latin_truetype..." in the Java folder. It's 1.4mb. I removed all languages when I ran your program. Is that file part of the English language files and necessary or something else?

That is actually the default font file, if you don't like the way the font looks, I would re-add that. Up to your preference

Not certain about this. I've loaded so many different ways and OS that I'm losing track. However, I believe that when I did a JL commander wipe prior to loading a newly shrunk OS and opted for the backgrounfd pictures to be removed, they did not show up after the new OS was loaded. I could be wrong on this. Those pictures reside in the System folder (in a subdirectory). I suspect they could also be removed using windows explorer.

EDIT - Just tried Windows explorer and while those pics are indeed on my device, I can not find them using explorer. I guess BBfileScout is the way to go!

Wow, BBFileScout is great! Thanks for pointing that out. Do you happen to know if I need to keep anything in the "samples" folder? Seems like a lot of pointless junk but I'm pretty clueless about what's needed and what's fluff.

I would only get rid of the sample pictures, I haven't tried deleting the others, so be careful

Like Neo said be careful what you delete. BBFileScout is kind of like a registry editor. If you remove the wrong file it will brick your phone. I have removed the sample pictures, the sample song, and the sample video but everything I leave as is.

Thanks. I decided not to delete the folders...just most of the files. So if there were as an example 5 jpeg files in a folder, I deleted 4, just in case it needed the root structure and one file to function. Seems to be working ok so far, however I still can't figure out why I can't get my memory above 40mb. As an example, I just did a battery pull and the only things running now (other than core apps) are Berry Weather and Memory Eye (no themes other than the one that came on the Storm new). Shows 38.3mb. I've run shrink-a-os and deleted pretty much everything I can find from reading this site and even scanning CB. I'm not sure if it's b/c I'm running a BES that the device consumes more memory or not.

    Here is my Shrink-A-OS tool.

You can always download the latest at:
    http://www.theiexplorers.com/bb/Shrink-A-OS.rar

    Current Version: V2.1

    Instructions:
    - Run Shrink-A-OS.exe from anywhere. (Vista/7 Users: Run as Admin)
    - Browse for your most current OS install folder (not the Java or CDMA)
    [For most users, it's in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\]
    [For 64-bit users, it's in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\]
    - Select what options you would like to remove.
    - Click Shrink My OS!
    - Launch Loader.exe to update your phone

Any questions, feel free to post!
    Enjoy.
*All files removed will go into a folder created within your Java called "RemovedFiles"*

    Update Log:
    V2.1 - MMS Fix fixed
V2.0 - Added Browse button, fixed many of the errors people were having when files existed, it will also auto-save your last install folder
V1.3.7 - Auto-deletes Vendor.xml now when you click Shrink for easy install, Asian and Russian languages are now keepable
    V1.3.6 - Fixed a few errors I noticed after shrinking .122
V1.3.5 - GUI Created and updated
V1.3.4 - Added removal for Sim Card Capabilities and App Center
V1.3.3 - Added removal for Default Background Images, cleaned up wildcards that overlap
V1.3.2 - Added removal for UK English files, freeing up an additional ~1.6mb in the Java folder
V1.3.1 - Changed Voice Activated Dialing to an *exclude as per some requests, also added it to the remove all *'s option, reordered list
V1.3 - Fixed error people were having with some files not being moved. Should work all around better now! Added option 19 and task msgs
V1.2 - Default font, added event log viewer to 3rd removal option, minor fixes
V1.1 - Split up options into individual choices, minor fixes

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Swap-A-Radio V0.4
    http://www.theiexplorers.com/bb/Swap-A-Radio.rar

This is basically just to give easy access to different CDMA radio files, it will put it in the proper place, and you can launch loader from within it to update.
This is handy if you don't like the radio code that you're using, you can easily download and switch to whichever version listed.
    How to use:
Place Swap-A-Radio.exe in your current CDMA folder and run it.
Click which radio version you would like to swap to. It will download it and backup the old one.
click Launch Loader.exe and update with your new radio file.

    Changelog
    V0.4 - More radios!
    V0.2 - Added .90
    V0.1 - Inital release

let me know if anyone runs into any trouble or has any suggestions.
I am donating because I have used your program many times with great success! Thank you lyricidal:eek2:

what does the error say beneath that?
unable to find path or anything like that?
are you using 2.0 or 2.1?
