Trouble syncing and connecting

O.K., I have been rocking with the first hybrid on the .114 platform for the past few weeks. After I upgraded though, I noticed that there was something weird going on. Whenever I tried to sync, at the end of the process I would get an error. According to the sync log, this is the exact error:
Internal Error #4238.
Translation Canceled!

Now I didn't get this when I was with the original OS that came with my phone, so I am hoping that someone can help me here. It has become a real problem because now that I want to upgrade to V3, I find that I can't back-up my phone's information. Just as the back-up gets a quarter way through the data bases, I get an "Error backing up database(s)" mesage and the back-up never completes.

Anyone got any ideas?

i had the same problem with my curve, and from my looking around i found a couple things that MAY help:

1. Go into Synchronize / Configuration - VIEW LOG and see where the error is occuring. In my case, it was the calendar. But in other cases, it might be contacts.
2. Get out of Synch, and go into BackUp and Restore, click on Advanced. ON right side, you will see Device Databases - choose the offending database (calendar in my case) and clear it, then close out of that window.
3. go back into SYNCH - CONFIGURATION and try again. If it STILL fails, repeat step 2, then you might want to try and device overright - ie choose a one way config from Outlook to device as stated in previous post.
4. Once its done successfully, you can reset all the synch options back to normal (back to 2 say synch etc.)

and also may try this one:

1. Plug the blackberry into the USB cable. Start Desktop Manager. When the sync starts to run, cancel it so it doesn't crash.
2. Click on "Synchronization", click on "Configuration" Tab, click on "Configure Sync". Go into sync settings for each application you have enabled, i.e. calendar, contacts, notes, tasks.
3. Set it to "One way sync to Device" and check the box to "replace all data in the target application". Make sure you set each application up this way.
4. Run sync
5. Reset the setup to the way you want it.


from my understandings its some sorta corrupt file


if all else fails try a battery pull, ive seen strange things be cured with a battery pull

blindman4556 - Thanks for answering so quickly. I already did the first one of your suggestions, and am gonna try the second now. The first one that I tried was the battery pull, but since I am having trouble syncing and backing up, I'm really lost now.

I wonder if a deletion and reinstallation of the drivers might be of some help...

If anyone else has some suggestions I am totally open to them...
