Thread: *** HELP - Backup and Restore ***

OK, I know I am a newbie, but I have been a lurker for some time now....so yea, I know what I am doing for the most part. Kick ass website by the way.

My battery life is killing me, I haven't seen what the hybrid V3 does yet, but for the other recent versions. .114, .113, .114 Hybrids, etc., my battery will drain in a matter of hours, yes, hours! I have checked all the running applications and deleted all the the fab 5 and everything seems to be running fine. I am getting 37.43mb of free memory after a battery pull, but for some reason my battery is killing me!

So......I know how to backup my phone, obviously with the DM like I always do before an upgrade. Correct?

I want to completely wipe my storm using CrackUtil. Once I have done that, I restore my phone with the DM correct?

I have read a lot of info on this and I believe I am doing it correctly, but I just wanted to make sure. I HAVE to have my storm, not just because it's my crack, but I also have to have it for work and I don't wanna have a new paper weight.

yes correct !

I would use JLCmder though to wipe...but that a personal opinion.

I'm gonna wipe it. Even with Hybrid V3, my batteries are only lasting me 4 hours! WTF?!?!?!?

I can also restore my phone with the loader.exe too, correct? I don't have to use DM. Thanks!

And, no, you can restore with both DM and apploader.I would suggest if you wipe, to install your original OS first that came with your phone.

I have the main 5. at least that is all i can see when i press and hold the main menu button?!?!?!? i cannot figure out what is draining the battery and it pisses me off! any ideas before i wipe??

i would just back it up, wipe and then when you install only check off the things you will use.

OK. i think im gonna use CrackUtil because I am running 64-bit and it is not compatible with JLCmder. is there a better program out there?

CrackUtil is the way to go, made by Pete6 in another forum. you should be good to go.

i wiped and re-installed with loader.exe. hopefully my battery will last more than 4 hours now. i hate having to carry around 2 batteries! i dont understand what the problem was before, but i sure in the hell hope this works! thansk for the help guys!

so, once my phone reloaded and rebooted, it wont connect to DM for em to do a restore?! any suggestions?

yeah reinstall DM...I suggest you use an older version of DM.
Too many issues with 4.7, I suggest 4.5

i did a batt pull and computer restart, worked perfect!

Well, the battery life still sucks! I get only 5 hours MAX. I only have the 5 main programs running too (phone, bbm, browser, home, messages). Anyone have any suggestions. This is battery deal is very annoying and I'm tired of it! Thanks in advance!

Either something is still running drawing your battery down, or you have a bad battery. I am on my third and finally go 36 hours with having to charge and I use it very heavily.

Can anyone tell me how to back up my contacts as well as my os before i upgrade to v3 cause when i dld .114 i lost all my contacts and i have about 100 so it took me a while to redo them. Thanks in advance

Connect your device to your PC. Open the DM and go to Back up and Restore and back up all your data.

Also when you run the install of the Hybrid the loader program automatically backs up and restores your device.

I always do the manual back up just in case....

josh.robinson, try this:

1. Plug your phone into your PC
2. Open DM
3. On DM, go to Backup and Restore
4. Click on the backup tab
5. This should backup your phone's user profiles

OOPS.. to late... was playing with the ordered list.lol

i did that last time but i could not figure out how to restore only the contact list without the previous crap .75 os
also should i pull the sd card before updating?

When you are in backup and restore in the DM, go to advanced options and just highlight and move from computer to device what you want to put back on you're BBerry
