Running V3 now since Sunday noon and very pleased with the results. Memory has stayed constant at over 33Mb with no battery pulls etc. I do run 3 party apps so this amount of memory for me is good. Used to drop below 25Mb. Battery lasts 50% longer and the camera is much improved. Speed for browser and other applications is much quicker.
So as you can see I am a happy camper. RIM should adopt BBC's hybrid as an official release.

Thanks soupmeister, I appreciate the compliment! Tried to get them to do that, but to no avail!

I posted last night but it got deleted in the mixup .
Here has been my experience with BB's V3.
My OS progression is as follows:
"Offical VZW" -> .103 -> .109 -> BB's V1 ->BB's V2 ->BB's V3
The first time I installed V3 I did an upgrade from V2. I had the AppleBerry Glass theme, Talk Lock, Tetherberry, some games, and a few other apps installed. From Battery pull I would start with around 39megs free, within 1 hour I'd be down to 27ish, within two hours down to 22. It'd hover between 17-22 during normal operation. Most of this was caused by my theme / apps. My real problem wasn't the mem leak. It was the fact that everyone was complaining that I sounded "far away" and that they could barely hear me. I test it by leaving messages on my home machine. It sounded like CRAP. I did a battery pull and for about 1 hour after it sounded fine, but after and hour it sounded like sh*t again. So I wiped the phone with JL. Reinstalled V3 and ONLY TalkLock. After battery pull I was at 52ish megs, after 1 hour 46ish and it would generally hover around there. Again the phone sounded fine for around 2 hours, but then I started having the same problem. I did another battery pull and had the same results. In order to determine weather or not it's a software or hardware issue I wiped the phone again last night. I installed the "leaked" .113 and NOTHING else. I will run it today and see if the problem persists.
Any other suggestions / input is always welcome.
And a HUGE THANK YOU TO BBCrackman and the team for all of your GREAT work!!!

After doing these upgrades, is there any way to restore my settings in apps and such?

Sorry getting into this conversation late but if you did a backup before the reinstall, go to DM, backup and restore, hit the restore button and follow the directions for restoring from the backup you made before the os change, hope thats what you are asking
